back in the days of oldwiz, someone from there got me hooked on the touhou remix scene. It's since blossomed to become just about the only thing I listen to. Generally all electronic, although the style variety can be quite eclectic

current favourite right now is Demitori. Can be little rough at first, but it grows on you and they're really the only good rock group for the niche

Here is the full ONE OK ROCK discography up to date (2015) if anyone is interested.
https://mega.nz/#!8AQkkA4I!SznWf25cwHKxv59x9KEgJqWjx-fhmDA-WDFAnwxqsmI

While at it, might as well post these BEST 3 compilation albums from UNDER17. Still missing some classics like GEM STONE but still worth to have. Oldschool otaku stuff.

And also, here are all Angel Note's albums up until volume IX, sadly, volume X hasn't leaked yet (i couldn't find it anywhere) so it's missing from this discography. All songs are from eroges:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3q89zuk1rxe2rhp/Angel%20Note%20Best%20Collection.rar?dl=0

I think many of you already know the arranger SSH (Saitama Saishuu Heiki), if you don't, then check this out.
I was going to post the torrent from nyaa but seems dead without any seeds.
So i just uploaded SSH's full discography up until 2014 just for you. Their new (2015) stuff hasn't been dumped yet it seems but i haven't searched much. You guys may have better luck than me.

Have fun. Also, pic unrelated, just wanted to post Sayuri wielding Mai's sword.

Angel Note Volume X. Enjoy. (Sorry but i'm too lazy to reupload the entire discography with this included.)
Thank you for guiding me in the right direction yet again, Mai.

It's part of some old Japanese genre, but in Western terms it'd probably be called jazz or pop something.
Does anyone know where I could get more 'similar'-sounding songs? Are there any in Chinese?

I've already posted Sigh enough, but every album they have is unique. When I first heard them I didn't get it, but now I can never get enough. Really the ultimate Japanese metal band. They were even on Deathlike Silence. Their music has comforted me through lots of shitty feelings.

Here's my contribution, Blue Sanction by Faylan, opening of Blazblue Chronophantasma.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_XXTCHeTp4
I really like this song, i like almost everything made by Faylan (how can her voice be so good?) but this song just blew me away when i booted up this game for the first time, i felt like a kid playing video games for the first time in my life once again, no words can describe the hype i felt when i watched this opening.

Susumu Hirasawa had a band until 2000, and I particularly like this song. This is a sound I relate with the first 90's, see Elektric Music, really similar and from the same years.

Here's something 100% comfy and chill
Dandy in love - Space Dandy OST
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjaELKsl2eU
I already posted a mashup featuring this song along with David Bowie's Lazarus in the first comfy music thread, but this is the original version of Dandy in Love.
I loved this anime so much, i got really sad when it ended. Speaking of getting sad when things end, anyone else feels like this? Sometimes when a really good anime ends i just feel like killing myself, it happened quite a few times already and Space Dandy was one of them, really felt like shit when this ended.

I still love 2hu remixes for some reason

Imagine a fighting anime with a great setting…Now ruin it with Harem. That's Chrome Shelled Regions, great setting, opening and ending, but it doesn't change the fact its shit.
Opening-Brave Your Truth
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms1rG87GNHQ
I use this as my wake up alarm sometimes, i literally jump out of the bed everytime, Its THAT good.
Ending-Yasashii Uso
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQiy4NwJngY
I know that "I cri everydime" is kind of a joke phrase, but i do cry everytime i listen to this. In fact, unlike the opening, i did not even played the video, just grabbed the URL to paste it here then closed the tab, im not in the mood for feely songs like this right now.

--------------That's all that's saved unfortunately-------------
Thank you for posting this thread again, OP. There are a lot of great music here.
I'd like to collaborate with the thread, but all the Japanese musicians I know are rather well known.

I can't see why this would be a problem, this thread is for all forms of Japanese music.

>>31 >I remember talking to an anon on /tower/ about how great this thread was That must have been me. I'm still looking for the ideal japanese sound. Now I think it must be ambient-pop or something more experimental. There's an obscure band called Aragon, I probably posted it in that thread, it's really close to what I need but I think they only made one album in 1985. In the meanwhile I'm looking for ambient pop in general , there's nothing that really clicks but there's nice songs here and there; >Artist Mioko Yamaguchi >Album Hakuchumu >Genres Ambient-pop >Sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvL5oqHrVqI Oh, and this is Aragon; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd2a_XJHD1A

>>285 >That must have been me. Nice to see you again >I'm still looking for the ideal japanese sound. Now I think it must be ambient-pop or something more experimental Japanese vocals seem best suited to those genres as they have this dreamy quality. The Aragon track you posted (which is great by the way) is a good example of what I mean by soft/dreamy vocals that compliment ambient tracks. 白昼夢 triggers something in the back of my mind, some long-forgotten memory reduced to a vague nostalgic feeling. >>304 The build up in 鏡 is amazing >Artist Pastel Blue >Album Blue Demos >Genres Shoegaze >Sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExL4opUUWwM Very similar in style to Slowdive Also found these guides online when looking through Japanese shoegaze if anyone is interested. No idea how good they are though as I have yet to look through all the artists.

>>329 I'm not into Shoegaze at all except for one of my favourites bands of all time, Coaltars of the Deepers. I don't really know if they are representative of the genre, maybe I should give it a chance even if it's not the kind of sound I've been into lately. Have something from CotD the thread; >Artist Coaltar of the Deepers >Album Yukari Telepath >Genres Shoegaze >Sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgaazDxM-eQ
>>304 Thank you for sharing those two songs. I enjoyed both of them. Actually, I think I’ll listen the rest of the album now.

I wonder if this music that feels so obscure to us was actually well known in Japan at the time.

This time, a whole album. I haven't found much last days, too much abstract/weird music that's not really my thing, except this. >Artist D-Day >Album Grape Iris >Genres Ambient Pop >Sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CrD82-8GVQ
>>362 I kept listening Zabadak and they have some impressive themes. It seems they are or were a folk/progressive rock band but they have a wide variety of music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONPfgsemf2Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F3XnruSyUw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_FyGYKBC1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSSbmxdeVaA I don't know if I said it in old magicchan or tower but I had the idea of making a wide compilation of japanese music (mostly 80's), with the things I consider the best, I still have the idea and I started to download to make a pre-selection.

I missed this thread greatly. It is soo strange seeing posts I made years ago posted as if they never disappeared. Some of the YouTube links are still active! Japanese music isn't the bulk of what I listen to, but I have a soft spot for the quirky, cute stuff. >Album Kanashibari [かなしば] >Artist Haniwa-Chan [はにわちゃん] >Genre New Wave / Art Pop >Sample https://youtu.be/GVK-7FseoZk
