Meta thread

Please note that this board is a bunker for those who browsed the late Magicchan, and therefore I ask that only those who posted on it use this board as we are still trying to find many anons who were lost. Many thanks for respecting this

Rules are the same as on Magicchan, and I also ask that if you find a lost mage to discreetly and subtly show them this board.

I'm not the same person who created the previous general thread (>>2), but since that one reached bump limit and it's about to fall off the front page, I thought it was time to start a new thread. So, like the original OP said, hop in this thread when you can and post about what you're up to or your thoughts lately.

Movie/TV thread

I just finished watching Babylon 5. I'd say it's my second favorite sci-fi show after TNG. The best part is how well-planned it seems, there are subplots that are started the first season that get finished all the way in the later seasons. The character development is well done, no changes to a character seem unjustified, and no one stagnates. I think that by the end no one in the show is in the same position as when the show started, everyone both advances in their carreers and grows as a person, dealing with personal problems and all that. I think it's done well especially considering how most of these shows just keep everyone in the same position for the entire show, even TNG does this, everyone stays in the same rank and occupation for the most part. I guess the producers just leave it to the nerds who write the books and comics to finish it all up. The last four episodes are all pretty much the sendoff for all the characters so that everyone's story is completed and we know exactly where everyone ends up, which is a great contrast to shows where everyone just sort of leaves, or where it's never explained what they're going to do after the show ends. The makeup and costumes are also really well done, I think that the only part of the visuals that didn't age well is some of the CGI shots of spaceships and buildings.
I still haven't watched the two movies that are after the show so I guess I'll post about them when I do. I'm definitely looking forward to them. Also I guess there's a spinoff show called "Crusade" but I'm a little less excited for that since I don't think any of the original cast is in it and it only got one season so the complex and patiently thought out story that I enjoyed from Babylon 5 won't be there, or at least it gets cut off early. I guess it got cancelled by the executives who wanted more action and sex shoved in before the show even aired, which is just sad.

Reading stuff

Do any of you guys manage to read more than webpages? I had a plane trip recently and managed to read most (guess 2/3rds counts) of a book on the way but didn't even bother finishing it after getting home. I think that's the only thing I have read in a long time. Guess my attention span

Painting and general art thread

Both MC and the First Tower had one, so I think a general art thread would not be out of place here. Share paintings and other works of art that wouldn't go to the hobby thread.

As today is the Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot, here is a painting in oil of his temptations -a rather common motif in art- by David Teniers the Younger (1647).

2020s discussion

A new decade is here. Not that it means much really. All manner of normies right now are drinking and celebrating and doing all sorts of degenerate shit to commemorate a new year while we sit alone doing nothing.
I want to discuss predictions for the new decade. Do you think things will get better or worse? Maybe a better question is do you think things will get worse faster or slower than this past decade? I can't imagine things getting worse at a rate faster than they did these past ten years. The 2000s were pretty good overall until the end but the 2010s got pretty awful real quick, especially with the exponentially growing popularity of social media making normies even more annoying. Which way do you think this decade will go? Can things get much worse? Could they possibly get better?
I know it's pretty arbitrary to divide things like this since obviously the way things work isn't based on decades, things don't suddenly change because the number on the calendar is different, but I feel like it could be interesting to see if any predictions will come true.
Personally I'd just be happy if we got WWIII so not only do I get an easy way out, but my name ends up on a wall somewhere.

lol so uh, you realize that's kinda awkward even for monkeys...

was there any god before modern religion that revives people from the dead? other than witchcraft i guess. Not even the olympians/hades do that kind of shit... it's probably too fucking awkward to do. they can rain fire and thunder but you didnt hear them raise from the dead because the roman would be like "uh, what? so i can kill everyone and they will come back again?" Which will make IS*S and religious, holy revivalism terorrism a hilarious joke of the century lol. Also so far there's only lazarus who came back from the dead, and nobody wants to take that chance and suffer irreversible physical damage because it's too fucking risky even for the fucking olympians, so you wonder if it actually happen or just retarded magic show. It would also solve murder case and capital offenses since people can always trace damage and nothing is forever lol. ON the other hand by denying or not believing in the bunches it also makes people look like jackasses who live for the moment so you have no choice but to believe it too, it's morally advanced and unchallengable.

toys, figures, etc.

Because I can't be the only one here who enjoys them. Just got this magnificent little bastard in the mail today. I don't usually bother with Nendos, but the super-deformed look really works for him for some reason- he's like an overworld sprite in a classic JRPG.

Humor Thread

I still have the files from the old humor / comedy thread that popped up on /b/ back in 2017. I don't have everything, but its enough to get it started. We desperately need to have some laughs to improve our mood, comedy has become the only thing that takes my mind off suicide.

Photography

"Photography is the science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. Photography is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography) and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication." -Wikipedia on Photography With the first floor overhaul of my home being 90% completed, i visited the veranda and was finally able to see what's behind my house properly, the view was so pretty that i decided to shoot a few photos for the image thread, but i ended up taking 34 pictures so i deleted those that were shit and only 12 good ones remained, if i post this on the image thread i will end up flooding it. That's when i had the brilliant idea of making a photography thread, if you got a camera around you should shoot something that you like or find interesting, could be something small but peculiar as an ant-hill to a cool graffiti or car, maybe even show off that fancy computer case you probably have. This is what's around me, a favela on a hilly area in the northeast region of brazil. There are 3 main features in those pictures >favela >the atlantic forest >the 2 distant cities We are currently going through winter right now, it was overcast when i shot those photographs and it started raining soon after i finished taking them. Another cool feature about this place is that it sits not so far from an airport; therefore also near an flight route, making it a great location for aircraft spotting. Planes from all sizes follow this route, from propeller single engines to airbuses and even military cargo planes, i once saw a HUGE green one, i think it might have been this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_KC-390 The rest of the photos will be posted very soon, this is only the beginning, there is much more i want to show you. Im looking forward to your photos as well.

Heath thread/coronavirus excitement

I've started to see people prepare for the coronavirus, buying shit like hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Is anyone here preparing for it or what? I'm not well informed on it so I'm not sure if the excitement about it is warranted or if it's just the media pumping it up to be bigger than it really is, like when ebola was the "big thing" but with any luck this is what'll propel us into the apocalypse where we'll all either die or survive to get a sick Mad Max car. Anyways, the situation reminded me of the health thread which had some good resources in it, so I figured that this is a good opportunity to discuss health regarding this specific situation and health in general.

Hoarders and organizers

Any hoarders and organizers that like to share their deeds? I'll start. Not very proud of it but I collect porn. I've developed an application to aid me in sorting all the clips by specifying models, studios, tags, themes and the ability to create thumbnails and highlights. I don't even fap that much these days, I just like to have a sort of vault full of things ordered and organized to look at and being to reach pretty much everything with ease.

R: 41 / I: 10 / P: 3

Are any of you students of history? I've been reading on the romans and antiquity recently, and have enjoyed thinking about it Caesar really strikes me as a precursor to Bonaparte, insofar as he takes total power for the express purpose of transforming the country, from a military background. I'm amazed how people think this politically dysfunctional disaster of an "empire" is admired for stability. It seems to topple along dictator after dictator like a banana republic Also the average legionary was carrying 80lbs in equipment while on the march. 80 Lbs! A week long backpacking trip takes about 40… So… a thread for history discussion?

Videogame Screenshots

I thought it could be nice to add some color to the board with a videogame screenshots thread, just anything you're playing or upcoming titles or whatever you like. Doesn't matter the platform or year. For some reason it's has become a fad to add photo modes with more and more options to most new games. And for once that's actually cool. If you like to do pics it just adds another "mechanic" to the game. RDR2 is a typical example of this. Also you don't need to put any effort because the game looks gorgeous in almost every shot.

Video thread

Share videos you find interesting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzRveOGMflo (STAR WARS Audience Reaction 1977 (AUDIO with VIDEO))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCox8wIHBlk (Avengers Endgame ULTIMATE Audience Reactions (THE REAL VERSION))
I think it's interesting to see how much less annoying the audience reaction was for Star Wars. At first when I saw the Star Wars one I thought "wow, even back then the audience couldn't shut the hell up" but then I remembered watching Avengers Endgame in theaters and how the audience burst out with applause every time they saw someone enter the frame. I think that the SW one is a lot more appropriate seeing as the only parts worth putting in the video were actually important points and they stopped pretty much right when they needed to. It's not excessive so I don't think it's wrong for them to enjoy themselves. As opposed to the Avengers audience where all they needed was for Robert Downey Jr to walk on screen and they'd have a fucking meltdown. I guess that's what the movie was meant for so I shouldn't blame them, since they're only cattle responding as they're trained to, but it's still annoying.
