I'm honestly surprised you didn't shut it down last year. Hope for the best, Site Owner. You were a bro at times and a massive faggot at other times, but it was a pretty good run. Nothing lasts forever, after all.
Couldn't some one else take over. I'd hate for this little community we've built to just go away or scatter completely.
He was mostly a massive faggot Truly redditchans were a mistake
>>16468 A massive amount of cleaning would have to take place to transfer the host files because of OpSec (which site owner has always been strict about), and even if someone else started it fresh it would be a new site owner with unknown motives. It is what it is. >>16469 If you're just here to rub salt in wounds I think that's pretty pathetic.
Best of luck to (You), Anon. Hope everyone finds a nice comfy place to go to.
Thanks for keeping the site running as long as you did.

I feel personally responsible for this because I kept forgetting to post here. That said it's easy to forget when your two most active boards are tengu/k/ and /christian/ and the places I'd be most interested in going get one post per month. Despite it all I will still miss you. You were the most level-headed, responsible, technically competent imageboard hosts I have ever seen. I really hope you change your mind or try again.
I'm rather saddened by this news, but that's the way life is. Thank you sincerely for holding this space for us, Admin.
>>16469 It's a two edge-sword. They're nice and accessible for small communities which need passive visibility to gain a small presence, but ultimately bad once the community is big enough to self-sustain. cafe admin was fine though. All the best, thanks for all the inter-board events.

>>16466 >the decision to shut down Anon.cafe is purely our own, taken on our own initiative How could you have possibly reached this conclusion? There are communities on here that barely survived 8chan's meltdown and have only managed to gather themselves here after four years. And now they're just supposed to find somewhere else?

>>16485 Websites cost money, and the board page read 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 the entire way down minus /k/ which was just shitstirring for unique IPs and PPH when his announcement first came out. When /l/ first came around he was looking at storage expansion but it was gonna run him like $20-$40 dollarydoos a month, and that doesn't even get into OpSec stuff related to running a Romanian imageboard through buttcoin and monero. It's amazing he didn't shut it down around this time last year tbh.

Hello, anon.cafe! I'm Shiban of Endchan, I'm writing on behalf of our global staff. We just got noticed about the site shutting down. I'm sure the regular Anons are sad for it, but also proud to be part of this piece of internet and imageboard history. I'm here to offer the possibility to open boards on our chans, either on endchan.gg or wrongthink.net. In the last years we listened to user complaints and ideas, and did improvements to our sites, including more comfortable mobile use (our new frontend magrathea.endchan.net). I won't pester individual boards, I don't wish to seem like a vulture, so if you think moving to us is an acceptable idea, please share it with your community. Thank you. See you around, fellas!
>>16488 Hello, Endchan. I'd suggest you come repeat your post on the 'group chatter' thread regarding this event: >>>/shelter/4994 Individual boards are going to make their own decisions in this matter, and the Anoncafe administration isn't going to respond one way or the other by all appearances.

>>16488 >about 2-3 minutes to make a post with the captcha refreshing faster than it even loads >no cookies captcha outright doesn't work >had to change identity because it got stuck in the flood detected loops >image didn't even post Just like I remember it How is your website still so shitty without being down so many years later? This is literally what killed /AM/
But why is it shutting down? Is it money? A lack of time? A lack of interest?
>>16492 Based on the announcement I can only assume lack of interest (at least the main reason, I remember the /l/ guy was offering bitcoin donations to the admin).
>>16492 Glowniggers broke into the server room and took it over, now they're shutting the site down and keeping admin as a sex slave.
Rip Anoncafe.
Vague reason why Anoncafe is shutting down in March.
>>16490 You really should have tried magrathea. It also has Tor.

>>16497 Do you have an ongoing issue where images that are currently in the database don't post, or images currently in the database that were lost at some point in the past or whatever anyway? If you do, is it specific to the board or to the site? Tried to put picrel where you'd think Boards not being all one page on magrathea is dogshit btw. I want to regex through plaintext, not fuck around with the nightmare interface and load another page >no captcha lmao >site doesn't allow loli I don't remember that. I guess /AM/ was basically sfw so it never came up. Has loli been unbanned since 2020?

>>16498 uh, not that, this
>>16498 >Do you have an ongoing issue where images No. >magrathea We welcome suggestions on Magrathea (which is from the frontend of our imageboard engine, Doubleplus, which gets updates constantly), I think you should contact us via other channels, or go here: https://gitgud.io/odilitime/lynxphp/ and make your observations, bug reports, etc. With all honesty, and without any sarcasm we do wait for user feedback. >no captcha We have captcha on every board where it's enabled by BOs. Can be for per thread on per post basis. >loli Lolicon is allowed as long as it complies to US laws. Which means no naked genitals and sexual intercourse.
>>16500 >No. So the site just straight up doesn't work under any conditions then? >We welcome suggestions on Magrathea (which is from the frontend of our imageboard engine, Doubleplus, which gets updates constantly), I think you should contact us via other channels Nigger I already gave you feedback >Lolicon is allowed as long as it complies to US laws That's flagrantly untrue, since lolicon is covered by the first amendment not just in theory but in practice, which several higher profile US sites take advantage of. This sort of dissemination would be fucking retarded and pathetic even if it wasn't a flagrant lie though. >Which means no naked genitals and sexual intercourse. So no, lolicon is banned (for no reason, to boot). You should kill yourself
>>16501 >So the site just straight up doesn't work under any conditions then? It's just you, man. >I already gave you feedback Not really. This from here >>16498 for example >Boards not being all one page on magrathea is dogshit btw. I want to regex through plaintext, not fuck around with the nightmare interface and load another page is nonsense gibberish. Spreading your opinions on lolicon endangers fellow Anons, Anon. You might wanna reconsider them.
>>16502 wew lad >It's just you, man. Nigger, the fucking images did not post. I gave examples. It's not like this is a fucking isolated incident or that it's just me. This literally, actually, 100%, killed the board that I used on endchan. Fucking incredible >is nonsense gibberish. >>>/firstgrade/ >Spreading your opinions on lolicon endangers fellow Anons, Anon. You might wanna reconsider them. Catch aids faggot
Why is it that pedophiles always turn into rabid animals at the mere suggestion that the rest of humanity isn't a big fan of child molesters?
>>16492 Ultimately it's their site, and their decision to make, and they did give fair warning at least. But still, it would be more reasonable if they shared their reason for pulling support from the communities who set up shop here, because ultimately that's what it is.
Hey, Lain* mod here. I'm sorry to see you guys go. :( It was nice lurking from my end.
>>16517 Can you guys add some of our boards there?
>>16517 Hey I posted the thread on lainchan/r/ but I was granted by numerous errors while trying to post. Nice to see it was in fact posted :)
>>16513 >we welcome all suggestions :))) <your site doesn't work >it's just you, friend :))))) <your rules on loli are retarded >um like wow, rude??? :(((((( i can't believe how mad pedophiles get
Amongst other things, I'll never forgive cafemin for not having Os in the captcha seed
>>16503 >>16498 >Do you have an ongoing issue where images that are currently in the database don't post, > the fucking images did not post. I gave examples. It's not like this is a fucking isolated incident or that it's just me. Image posting issues haven't happened to me. A work around is either just renaming the file or using another domain. Images not posting happens but it's really rare. The site's a lot better from years ago >or images currently in the database that were lost at some point in the past or whatever anyway? Those look like they're gone though. Apart from using wayback I can't think of another way to get into that >>16513 >>16488 It's fine. We offered a place they can stay with no issue. Up to them if they wanna go
>>16501 >That's flagrantly untrue What always happens is that that type of content gets posted a little. Then it gets spammed all over. Then it "evolves" from there. Then the site and the owners gets b&. Then the site is literally compromised and that content is left up just to catch other anons. That's what always happens. I've seen it happen a dozen times Either that or it's allowed then people who just plain hate imageboards go on a mass reporting spree to the site owners. It's a lose lose situation no matter what.
>>16526 > go on a mass reporting spree to the site owners. Like they report the site to the owners of the domain and hosting providers. What I meant to say
>>16521 The dead images are from previously stored pics before past server migrations. It's very easy to bypass. Just open your pic that didn't post in MSPaint and add a single pixel, then save and post again.
>>16529 You don't even have to keep the added pixel. You can hit undo and re-save and that's good enough to get past r9k bots. I never revealed this since the anons who got hit by the bot were retards spamming the boards in the first place but it's just that easy.

Just messaged Gahoole about federated sites, hoping that none would be lost in the coming death of this very site. In that, he made this offer to boards here. Think it's imperative to state this info.
>>16547 Thanks very kindly for the help and the announcement, Anon! Cheers.
Any archiving efforts?
i am still blaming the jews for all of this
