Internet Radio on the Anon.cafe Broadcasting System Anonymous Board owner 10/03/2021 (Sun) 16:45:28 No.15187
We've overhauled Anon.cafe's Icecast server, named it the Anon.cafe Broadcasting System (ACBS), and are thinking about opening it up for use by boards. You can use audio streaming software (e.g. Mixxx) together with the ACBS to create Internet radio shows that others can tune into, well-known examples elsewhere on the webring being Smug/a/'s r/a/dio, PLW/animu/'s jazz streams, and so on. The ACBS's secure endpoint is at https://radio.anon.cafe and will show any playing streams together with links to begin listening to them. This page will only show streams that are active at that moment. If you consider yourself an anon of one of Anon.cafe's boards and would like to stream over the ACBS, you will need a streamer account. We're still working out the details of how we'll manage this, but at the moment we'd like streamers to have the blessing of the Board Owner whose board the stream is associated with to deter abuse. A Board Owner can bless multiple streamer accounts if they please. To get a streamer account, please figure out what kind of content you'd like to stream, discuss it on whatever board you'll be streaming it under, secure the blessing of the Board Owner, then post in this thread with answers to these questions: 1. Which board(s) will you be streaming under? 2. What sort of thing do you want to stream? 3. How often do you think you'll stream, and for how long? (This won't serve as a commitment or restriction, it's so that we can understand resource timing.) 4. What would you like your stream's mount URL to be? (For example, a stream mount URL of "pancakestream" will show up in the ACBS as /pancakestream and have a playlist URL of https://radio.anon.cafe/pancakestream.m3u ) 5. What streamer username would you like? 6. What email address may we send your credentials to, if and when approved? We'll confirm with the board owner(s) before issuing you a streamer account. Once you have a streamer account, you may use it at will. Naturally, all of Anon.cafe's Global Rules (see https://anon.cafe/.static/pages/globalRules.html for details) apply to content streamed on the ACBS. Please keep in mind that the ACBS's server is used for other things as well; we'll try to avoid stepping on a stream's toes, but there might be rare times when it can't be helped. Some things at our provider's level are also out of our control, though we've not seen incidents of that kind for a while. Of course, you should feel free to have your streams promoted in our global community announcements, which you can read about in >>13261 We hope Anon.cafe and the wider webring will enjoy the ACBS!

Can the stream start and end with some sort of radio host commentary like in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq5tLtKuR1c ? It'd be grand.

>>15202 i can do do u want me to do I will do
Apologies. I know I asked for access to the icecast serve but then shit got kinda crazy between broken down cars and relatives in hospitals, and I had to focus on real life for a bit there. I'll work on using it more effectively. And getting a crypto wallet set up.
>>15187 >1. Which board(s) will you be streaming under? /islam/ ( >>>/islam/311 ) >2. What sort of thing do you want to stream? The Holy Qur'an >3. How often do you think you'll stream, and for how long? Ideally, 24/7 >4. What would you like your stream's mount URL to be? /quran >5. What streamer username would you like? ImanCafe >6. What email address may we send your credentials to, if and when approved? imancafe@hitler.rocks
>>15375 You're OK to go; credentials have been sent via email. Please try to use a lower-quality, bandwidth-efficient codec and bitrate if you plan to stream for very long periods, especially 24/7. Please also note that this server may be rebooted or develop other connection problems from time to time and we're not able to provide notice of this in advance; we planned to work around event-style streams that lasted hours rather than weeks. If you notice that the streaming server is unavailable for a long period, please inquire here.
>>15383 Thanks! Everything seems to work well. I've selected a low bitrate as requested.

Hi, me and other guy from a latin board called /ac/ from another IB (the board where they streamed cartoons during the last christmas event) are hosting a podcast so we would like to use your radio service, can we do it eventhough we don't have a board here? The podcast is going to be mostly about animation and animation related image board culture and maybe we might roleplay from time to time. Everything in spanish, so I hope that won't be a problem.
>>15428 Which imageboard would this be? We don't see an /ac/ board anywhere on the webring. If you'll pardon the question, aren't podcasts usually posted as recordings to be downloaded later, hence the "pod"?
>>15429 Thanks for answering. This is the board I'm talking about https://www.hispachan.org/ac/ Regarding the project, me and my friend are going to talk any cartoon related subject live and the upload it to another server to anyone who missed the live transmision.
>>15430 Hispachan participated once on the /icup/ right? What if we invited them to the webring itself?
>>15434 That would be neat, however, I would have to work a lot on that and talk a lot about it with the hispa's admins. Currently I prefer just focus on this project.
>>15187 >You can use audio streaming software (e.g. Mixxx) I started to use Mixxx to stream jazz, and every time I do, I can't watch/hear any other sound/video source in my computer while I'm streaming, anyone know why? And how to stop Mixxx from muting everything? Also, when playing songs that has moonrunes on its namefile, it doesn't show them on the stream for some strange reason.
>>15434 >What if we invited them to the webring itself? If you knew them you probably wouldn't say this. At least they reserve it to themselves, they did use 8ch for almost a year back in the day and few noticed it, but they are quite impish and are very obvious when they step outside their boards.
>>15525 Sound card limitation or the format you're using for mixxx. Try messing around with the sound API and query devices under sound hardware in your preferences. Also play around with songs/test them when changing those settings since some sound APIs will allow for sound mixing, but will reduce sound quality in order to do so.
>>15533 I found why, MIXXX shutsdown pulseaudio when using ALSA. https://manual.mixxx.org/2.1/en/chapters/preferences.html >Most modern GNU/Linux distributions use PulseAudio by default. When launched from a GUI menu entry or icon, Mixxx suspends PulseAudio while it is running so that Mixxx can use ALSA directly.
>>15534 Nice work Anon, gratz.
Is this project still going on? 1. Which board(s) will you be streaming under? /ac/ 2. What sort of thing do you want to stream? Music and board announcements 3. How often do you think you'll stream, and for how long? Every a couple of months I suppose. Not very often, I'm planning to use the radio as a communication channel for my anons and maybe share the key with them if they want to stream more often. 4. What would you like your stream's mount URL to be? radio-acolita.m3u 5. What streamer username would you like? Streamanon 6. What email address may we send your credentials to, if and when approved? acolitosadmin@protonmail.com
>>15910 Done. Credentials have been sent to that email address.
Thanks, man
