Requesting Boards Anonymous Board owner 09/01/2019 (Sun) 02:54:24 No. 3 [Reply]
Self-service board creation is disabled. If you'd like to run a board on anon.cafe, please create an account and then post in this thread with:
>The username you created
>Board URL (e.g. /meta/)
>Board name
>Board topic
>Would you like the board marked SFW (i.e. no explicit or other adult-only content)?

Please review the Global Rules before you request a board. Please also be certain that you are willing to carry out the duties of a board owner. Boards whose owners do not log in for more than two weeks will be marked inactive and put up for claim. Boards that remain dead for an extended period may be deleted if resources need to be freed.

Priority will be given to smaller boards that have been displaced by the 8chan incident. Being comfy is also a plus!

Please specify if you are requesting a board for use as a "bunker", which is a board that will remain inactive and only be used in case your main board hosted elsewhere becomes unavailable. We request that bunker boards remain delisted from the board list and top boards so that we do not pollute the webring with many inactive duplicates of boards. To delist your board, go to Board Management > Settings, check the "Don't index on top boards and board list" box, and click Save. Delisted boards can still be read and posted on, so you can still distribute your new bunker's address to your anons. If your main board becomes inaccessible or you want to turn your bunker into your main board, feel free to relist it by unchecking the aforementioned "Don't index on top boards and board list" box and clicking Save.

Please note that because delisted boards can still be posted on, their owners are still expected to log in regularly and clear them of spam or rule-breaking content and that delisted boards whose owners do not log in for some time will still go up for claim as normal. If you keep your bunker clear of spam and rule-breaking content, it will remain unlocked so that posts can be made at any time. If spam or rule-breaking content accumulates, the board will be administratively locked and will only be unlocked by request. By the time we see an unlock request and act on it, your anons may already have been unable to use the bunker for some time. A tidy bunker is a ready bunker.

>oy vey why are you lashing out at my persistent attempts to subvert communities anon I only asked a loaded question with severe implications behind the logical conclusion
Kill yourself faggot. You're as transparent as all of your fellow discord tranny goons.
I'm not whatever your boogeyman-of-the-week is. Thanks for demonstrating the point though.
Cool, time for you to crawl back now.
>severe implications behind the logical conclusion
What implications?
Are you joking? It was as subtle as a punch in the face. "Delete this board I don't like" is the obvious goal of the complaint, because the only other solution to this perceived problem would be forcing everyone to suppress themselves and that never works. This is a board that recently avoided being controlled by a bad actor when the previous owner became inactive. After that was unsuccessful there was an attempt to harvest IPs by creating more bunkers and impersonation. If it was deleted it would never recover, there would be no successful regrouping, because of what has been happening. It would be the complete dissolution of what was once 8chan /r9k/. Attempting to destroy it is decidedly not relaxed.

anon.cafe is blocked by schools Anonymous 01/18/2020 (Sat) 15:07:05 No. 561 [Reply]
Seems like schools are catching up with the webring. It's giving me 302 redirects to local blocked pages. I have to use a proxy to post since they hate anons like us.
1 post omitted.
College, I should've meant. In my country, it's the same way as writing college.
Doesn't make much of a difference tbh.
At school I was Big Fucking Hackerman installing Tor Browser into my user files and blocking the admins from my folder so they couldn't delete it. I used it to get around their website bans so I could go to homestarrunner.com and play Stinkoman 20X6. They called my mom after seeing me play Battletoads on the school PC 'cuz they couldn't figure out how to delete my emulator collection. Good times.

>In my country, it's the same way as writing college.
Yeah, yeah. I've been 18 years or older on the internet for my entire life. Do your homework THEN play Bloons TD.
anon.cafe can't help your problem. Complain to your school board
>blocking the admins from my folder
How'd you do that?
Open cmd.exe
Write "hack.exe" and press enter
Bam you are in

Problems in Chile Anonymous 12/15/2019 (Sun) 02:10:56 No. 267 [Reply]
So I have a friend who lives in Chile, and when he tried visiting here a couple of days ago, it said that it didn't exist, gave the typical "can't find this site" jargon and all that. Thing is, when I checked (I'm from the US), I could load it just fine.
So the question is, do you guys use CloudFlare or some load-balancing/anti-DDOS service, do you run on a single IP, and do you know if you've been censored in any countries?
1 post and 1 image omitted.
Imagine being this much of a plebian
If we have been censored in certain countries we don't know about it. Your friend might want to try using an alternative DNS server from a different country.
As far as I know, using solved it, so I'm figuring it might be a DNS block, possibly from the gov't, although I don't know why.
probably using some kind of third-world DNS in chile

Spam on /r9k/ Anonymous 02/17/2020 (Mon) 06:15:00 No. 2240 [Reply]
The spammer is still going, so if someone could temporarily force only a limited number of thread creations per hour, that would be good.
Pic unrelated.

There seem to be a lot of broken/missing thumbnails and I have to hit refresh several times to make them show up.
They never show up for me, no matter how much I refresh.
Even worse, it's every image, not just most of them like in your image
Yep, the refreshing just breaks the CSS after a bit.
You're hitting the rate limiting that was put in as a pre-emptive measure against non-captcha request flooding. I've increased the limit a bit; you should no longer notice anything unless you try to load a few 500-image threads.

Refreshing more will actually exacerbate the problem, especially if your browser is not caching the thread's thumbnails.

Same for you. Constant refreshing will just be interpreted by the server as you trying to overload it, and it'll cut you off.
Hey, not sure if you use haproxy for that ratelimit or not, but you can solve the issue of too many requests breaking long threads by making the ratelimit per url path+IP instead of just IP. Of course that means an attacker could use a shotgun approach and attack many pages at once, so you should still have a ratelimit for IP or connection rate, but with a higher value. An example/haproxy config snippet below:

##### Track client by base32+src (Host header + URL path + src IP)
stick-table type binary len 8 size 100k expire 10s store http_req_rate(10s) #request rate over last 10 seconds
http-request track-sc0 base32+src
acl rate_abuse sc0_http_req_rate gt 50 #50 requests/10s (5 req/s) PER-PAGE
###### Deny if rate abuse
http-request deny deny_status 429 if rate_abuse

### Optional, some other ways to deny request instead of http-request deny
#http-request tarpit if rate_abuse
# will keep the connection busy but send no data until timeout,
# then respond with 500 server error to make bots think they took your site down.
# very effective against very dumb robots, moreso than http-request deny,
# but can force haproxy to keep an insane number of connections open while tarpitting,

Admin, please add these patterns to your blacklist.txt and clear your spider_cache.txt, and restart Lynxchan:
I fucked up and added the dolphin sperg to the webring. You can clear the entries with this method.
9 posts omitted.
I had thought we could have nice things, but we can't.
Already done. By the way, since you're here: Thank you for your work under alogware. We appreciate it a great deal. It's been very helpful to be able to tag along on your work instead of having to do everything ourselves. You're a fucking faggot for being tricked by the dolphin autist but we're not going to hold that against you.
Thank you.
BTW, I still see pastebin.com entries in your webring.json so you might need to clear spider_cache.txt + restart Lynxchan to get rid of them once and for all.
It's been done and our webring version has been updated.

Luckily our non-enhanced boards page did not bump his boards to the top, so the chance of anyone hitting his pages from ours was very low. Now that Robi has also moved, we're blacklisting.

Thank you for reporting this so quickly, Anon. I'm sorry that we would have appeared to ignore you. Sharp-eyed anons like you make things safer for all of us, so please do not be discouraged.
I fucking hate you.
I love you. I hope you can find the help you need to stop lashing out like this.

What happen?

Posts on hidden boards also appear on the recent posts page on the home page. I agree, and Stephen Lynx ought to hang himself for the piece of shit he has brought upon imageboards. I know Vichan is defunct and supposedly hard to work with, but why not take the time to use it? It certainly has a much better front end
I hope jschan and/or final solution will have similar or better feature set as soon as possible, so that stephen lynx and his side panel can do themselves in.

If you took the time to not be a nigger, you would rtfm and know that the site admin must enable a setting to completely hide posts from unindexed boards. Why? So board owners can't just do as they wish without the knowledge of the site admin on sites with open board creation.

How am I supposed to know what powers the admin has? I don't own my own website and I don't care for lynxchan, thats what the spoiler was all about.
>So board owners can't just do as they wish without the knowledge of the site admin on sites with open board creation.
I can understand why but all boards must be created by the admin anyways, so its not like anything is going to slip past.

This is a specific site issue. The software wasn't built for this one site only. Also, if you are going to say the software is shit, you should first learn about the software. It doesn't matter if you own the site or not. You want to criticize something you should first learn what you are talking about.
