MOC THREAD Legoman 10/21/2019 (Mon) 03:40:50 No.55
My first attempt at a mountain.
>>55
It looks cute, very mountainous.
>>55
I like it. It looks like goats belong on it.
>>56
Thank
>>57
Yeah, too bad goats are crazy expensive.
>>55
Very nice, do you have any plans to expand it?
>>59
Thank. This was just a test build. I already broke it down. I'll try a slight larger one later.
>>66
Not going to lie, I'm jealous of all the pieces you have to build a mountain. I barely have enough to build an 8x8 vignette

I buy sets, but the bulk of my collection comes from yard sales and flea markets. I've picked up whole collections for peanuts that way. Sorry to be "this guy", but I think you mean envious.

Lucky bastard
>I think you mean envious
You are right, I should've used envious. Thanks for pointing it out
Also, nice castle. You plan it out or just make it up as you went along?

>>69
I really like the abstract designs, they definitely make them feel unique and 'alien'. No 7 and the right one in No 5 have to be my favourites.

>>71
Love the teal bot, it has so much character to it
>>74
Thanks. I had a rough idea for the castle, but it was mostly free building.
>>69
Something about those unsettles me deeply.
>>86
Not the anon that made these but I think its because of how 'alien' they are. Most aliens in fiction follow similar conventions but these are truly unique. In each one there is only a small recognisable feature (an eye, a mouth, etc), and the lack of animals they can be compared is really off-putting, giving an uncanny valley effect. It really helps that you can't even work out what some of them are. The one on the right in the 2nd picture has to be my favourite with it's bio-mechanical look and how threatening it appears - my mind instantly thinks of a dog when I see it, but its twisted form is what gives it that uncomfortable feel to it as I realise that it certainly isn't a dog. When I look at them I see them at minifigure scale as well, making them even more imposing and unnerving. Imagine being a minifigure and coming across these fuckers.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, I don't know.
>>87
Not too much Anon, I think you're spot on.
>>89
Thanks, its nice to know I'm not the only one that thinks like that.

Getting back on topic, I found some pictures I took of a Ninjago hovercar alt build I built a while back. Anyone else like making alt builds?
>>87
As well as the lack of recognizable features is the fact that some of them don't strongly follow bilateral symmetry like the overwhelming majority of earth animals. Yes, they do have two arms/tentacles, but both the yellow and blue ones are at least as much radially symmetric as they are bilaterally.
The blue ones in particular made me think a little of the Elder Things from At the Mountains of Madness at first, with the tentacled barrel-shape.
>>92
That's an in-depth analysis anon, I never even thought about it in terms of symmetry. The human brain is programmed to see symmetry as beautiful so something more asymmetrical like those aliens would have an alarming presence.
>>91
This reminds me of the hovercraft that the lizard dude with the three human slave girls is riding on the cover of that RIFTS book
>>136
I now have a sudden urge to make a MOC of it
>>87
I am that anon. I don't think you're reading too much into it. In fact, I think you pretty hit the nail on the head.
>>92
Like this anon said, radial balance was the goal in some models.
>>91
Very nice.
>>161
*pretty much

Made a comfy little cavern room for my Spinlyn minifig, stole Spider-Man's webbings for her weaponry and decoration.
>>289
Neat use of the webbing for a spear and shield. Are you the anon who's building little homes for his waifigs?
Open file (1.43 MB 2909x2257 Shield_Gallery_S2.JPG)

Haha, it's that obvious huh? Yeah, I'm just trying to create display pieces for my collection (including waifigs) now. Next up are the coin/money vault and potentially Harley Quinn's room.
>>298
Another nice room anon, but I think it could do with something along the walls like neon orange accents to break it up a bit.
>>300
Yeah, I was thinking of adding some banners or flags on the side walls actually.
>>301 Please post any updates and the coin/money vault and Harley Quinn's room if you get round to them. I'm really interested in what this money vault is

Planning to use them for a BrikWars story fight soon enough. As for the Justice League, I'm thinking the main three (Supes, Bats and WW)) in an epic battle against whatever I can find that can realistically challenge them (Got a Lobo to fight Superman).

More of a modified build than a real MOC but parts like the ice cream salon were my own idea. Dolphin Point (6414) turned into a Hidden Side level. Both the lighthouse lamp and the ice cream salon are power color switches.
>>445 >Dolphin Point (6414) turned into a Hidden Side level. Amazing >Both the lighthouse lamp and the ice cream salon are power color switches. Ridiculously amazing
>>446 Thanks, I feel like I should just mass buy spooky green eyes and teeth, for some reason there's a lot of fun in modifying old sets. >TFW The Lego Group will never expand the Hidden Side mechanic to other themes in an "Around The World" kind of way >Could make a big ghostly pirate ship like The Flying Dutchman and have ghost pirates >Or a proper haunted Castle set with a Dullahan reference >Explorers theme with a ghostly jungle voodoo vibe

Here's a cute gynoid I made back in January out of a couple of Hulkbuster sets, plus some miscellaneous parts. I improved the arm design later and ordered the dinosaur fossil set for more parts, but I haven't actually done anything with them yet. I think I need more base pieces to work with.
>>545 Nice poses, the second picture shows off their features pretty well. If I may be so bold to suggest possible changes, something for their face like round eyes would work well.
>>545 nice work. look forward to the updates, anon.
>>539 >>540 If I wasn't hyped for the cup, I am now! Those billboards are great lol. I've been making my own Space Police range with a land vehicle, jail pods and a space bike. Though I am stuck on what to do to the ship, I like the front cockpit, but wonder what else could be added? Like something that works with how the wings fold, or detatches into two sections. Also how to fix the mismatch of the roof wedges? And there are some other ships it's competing against.
>>1009 What do you envision the purpose of the ship is? Surveillance? Prisoner transport? >Also how to fix the mismatch of the roof wedges? What are you on about, anon? I can't see what you mean. What's the rundown on the tan ship 2nd from the right? It's definitely my favoruite.

>1011 Well, It's meant to be bigger than a spacefighter or single-person shuttle, but not as big as a mothership as to provide quick response in whatever planet or star system it's functioning in. Built for transporting officers from planet to planet or space stations. For the build would like to put two or at least jails. The mismatch thing is that under the small piece reading "Police" there's an empty 1x2 plate space, and it's one plate taler than the blue piece behind it The tan one? It's a moderately armed gunship in which bounty hunters travel and serves as a temporary base, kinda like a motorhome. It started out as Samus's ship from SuperMetroid, but gave it a "Lego Space" overhaul with small rovers, a roof that separates as a smallflying craft and a numerous crew. The orange one was also inspired in the Prime 3 ship, works more like the galactic version of a white van. They need a bit of interior detail before they are fully finished
Here's them mostly done. Only thing missing is interior detail, control panels on both cockpits, some some transparent antennas (2 short, 2 long), and see it I keep the round thrusters where they are. Any suggestions?
