Legoman 05/07/2020 (Thu) 20:39:28 No.448
Hey there, building friends, I'm here to tell you that the Infinity Cup 2020 is officially back on track! Come and give us a brand new team to play with!
Open file (262.51 KB 908x908 VwVager_Wojtu.JPG)
Quick question since I don't see any other thread on the board mentioning it right now: What is the Infinity Cup? Do we get to make a sports team? >Jamaica we have a bobsled team!
>>451 You make a soccer team together with customised players, uniforms, club logo and so on and then they do AI-vs-AI matches tournament style to determine which board’s team takes the cup.
>>452 Sounds like a challenge. A'ight, let's start with outfit colors. What fits this board the best?

Never thought I'd see the Infinity Cup back up, but it'd be great to join. >>453 Red, yellow, and white perhaps?
>>454 I get that those are LEGO colors, but if we're not the only team in this cup we probably need something a bit more 'anon.cafe/lego'. So far I've gotten used to the dark blue studded background.

>>451 >What is the Infinity Cup? Do we get to make a sports team? Good question! The Infinity Cup (or Inter-board Cup, or ex-8chan Cup, or I See You Pee) is a virtual tournament pitching teams made up of the lore and injokes of various boards across the webring. More specifically, we're having an AI run soccer tournament to determine which board is the superior one. Last cup saw /kind/ win against long-standing champions /christian/, but since we've seen a lot more boards pop up in and out of existence, we thought it fitting to revamp it for some fun times. In essence, some of you guys provide us with teams and kits and faces and funny names etc. and then we all join up in a chat on the day of the cup to shitpost about what's going on. It's very /comfy/. >>453 If I may suggest this (since I had that toy as a kid and it was THE SHIT), you could use the Lego Soccer kits as a basis.
>>456 I'm voting for pastel light green with pastel pink, to intimidate our opponents and the AI.
>>456 > you could use the Lego Soccer kits as a basis Good shout, that'd be great. >>457 Maybe the Paradisa kit could be our away kit?
>>460 >Paradisa as away kit Good idea, it'll be one big summer vacation for our players. But then we'll still need a home kit, right? I've really gotten a liking to the dark blue of this board.

How is this for a kit? Any suggestions for improvements? The main kit is one of the kits from the Sports line, while the goalkeeper kit is the goalie from the same team. Chose it because it still retains the dark blue of the board, and the red rectangle on his chest would have the Lego logo on it if we decide to use it. The away kit is based off Paradisa colours and a shirt that I thought was suitable.
>>476 Move the Paradisa graphic up a little bit and it all looks great!
>>476 Love the goalkeeper's outfit, nice job with the studs too. Kind of looks like a chain link armor (defense, defense!). For the Away kit I'd suggest the windsurfer logo, apparently it's so iconic that even real life shirts with it are shown as search results. The palm tree island looks fine too though, maybe expand it a little to avoid too much of a blank space on the shirts.

>>476 Looks fantastic, I'd love to have that gruff goalie on board. If we're talking roster, what would be your picks? I'd choose: >Orange Transparent Chainsaw An absolute classic from /toy/ >The Brickster Gotta have your bad boy on the team >Glows In The Dark! Because that was just too funny >LEGO Story Because of that God awful CGI >Brownie Points Living the Dream >Kathleen EnrightBrick by Brick
>>479 >Orange Transparent Chainsaw An iconic and worshipped LEGO item in general, /toy/ doesn't have shit. Every child back then saw the OTC as the most treasured weapon. >Brickster Definitely, he'll steal balls like he steals pizza pies. >Glows In The Dark You'll have to explain this one to me. >Brownie Points Better idea, we use the Millenium Falcon itself as part of the roster. It's THE most spammed Star Wars item on social media, and having a literal space ship on the roster for soccer is just too good. (Now imagine it dressed in team colors.) >LEGO Story Oof, I vaguely remember this nightmare. Let's make our opponents suffer it too, I approve. >Kathleen Enright Did you just pick the female vocalist for the LEGO Island songs as part of the roster? You absolute madman. >Mama papa Brickolini >Will not cook you no linguini >Don't you know we specialize >In one thing, that's the pizza pie >If you think the family's ready >For a plate of good spaghetti >Sorry if it makes you cry >But all we got is pizza pie
>>480 >>Glows In The Dark You'll have to explain this one to me. One of the first threads on /lego/ was about finding out how minifigures are designed, some based anon replied with pages out of a very exclusive interview with Lego Imagineers and since Glows-In-The-Dark CIAPirakas was a relevant topic back then someone made an edit out of the pages being shown in the thread. >Better idea, we use the Millenium Falcon itself as part of the roster. It's THE most spammed Star Wars item on social media, and having a literal space ship on the roster for soccer is just too good. (Now imagine it dressed in team colors.) That's cool too, as long as the base model is that of a bearded fatso and from his eyes upwards it's just the lego model itself. >Oof, I vaguely remember this nightmare. Let's make our opponents suffer it too, I approve. Why does it have millions of views though? It still puzzles me. I'd add the Broken Bionicle and That One Piece to the roster but I don't want to make it look like it's just generic LEGO memes.

>>479 >>481 Good list, I'd also suggest: -Jack Stone -Alfred Legosen >I don't want to make it look like it's just generic LEGO memes I think that's just what all team rosters are, they're just board in-jokes and whatnot.
>>481 >I'd add the Broken Bionicle How about The Good Guy?? It's probably the most infamous bonkle. Wojtus deffinitely needs to be added in his full glory. It will be hilarious to see a brick with a face on legs running around playing soccer.
>>481 >was <3 successive major IB takedowns, all due to false-flags, all within less than a year you don't really think all this was just the work of amateur shitposting goons, do you anon?
>>479 >brownie points Why would you put some random faggot instead of keeping to LEGO characters?
>>506 Not him but relax anon, the roster isn't finished yet. Right now we're just suggesting players but nothing is solid yet.

Finished the kits and moving on to our badge. Before I start, what should our slogan/motto be?
>>521 I'm tempted to suggest just "HEY!" as slogan, with the LEGO City commercials and all.
>>521 Beautiful in its minimalism. >>522 I more like wanted to have the Man Who Has Fallen In The River In Lego City be a rep rather than a logo
>>523 >the Man Who Has Fallen In The River In Lego City be a rep rather than a logo We can have a slogan AND a mascot, you know. Hell, we could have our 'national anthem' even be "A Man Has Fallen Into The River In LEGO City". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ral62vDVVCo
>>521 "It's Zack the Lego maniac!"
>>524 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_UZ2967_gU How about using a compilation of heys as the goal horn?
Open file (121.99 KB 485x514 badge3.png)
How's this for a badge? Seen as we're using the old sports kits I thought it would be fitting to use the old badge as well. Thought the "Play On" slogan from the 2000s was appropriate too. Don't know whether the badge would look better with just a plain Lego logo and just leave the slogan out. Still need: -name for our stadium -anthem -goal horn -victory song For the victory song I'd recommend this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhq-TbGJ5B8
>>528 Looks so good!
>>528 Goal horn could be an obnoxiously loud HEY.
Lego Yoda Needs to be in the team, maybe even as a medalled player and this should be his goal horn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKWVNeDYZmU
>>531 Seconding CBT goal horn

We need a minimum of 18 players and up to 23, so far we have 16: Orange Transparent Chainsaw The Brickster Glows In The Dark! LEGO Story Kathleen Enright Broken Bionicle That One Piece Jack Stone Alfred Legosen The Good Guy Wojtuś Zack Punished Yoda Bear Gold Nephilim LEGO® Millennium Falcon™ We also need to assign positions to players, as well as medals to players - 1 gold player, 1 silver, and 2 bronze players, and a name for our stadium. How would everyone feel if the grass of the stadium was replaced with pic related? Don't know if its possible but it would personalise the stadium a bit more. Suggesting the Island theme tune for our anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB6cJbs3lm8
>>533 The stadium obviously should be called Lego City Stadium

We're in >>>/icup/472
>>537 Guess now's a good excuse to make a soccer-themed display with fans to cheer on our team.

Congratulations /lego/, your board is now officially entered into the 6th Infinity Cup, a competition dedicated to crowning the divegrass champion of the webring! The defending champion and host for this Cup is /kind/, who defeated /co/ in the final, via a nailbiting penalty shootout. We will be following a similar tournament structure this Cup, with a Group Stage, guaranteeing your board at least 3 games, and a final Knockout Stage to determine the sole champion. The tentative schedule for the tournament is as follows: >July 31 Second Deadline, for tactics and Player Cards (explained below) >August 1st Draw Stream on the Infinity Cup Cytube, determining which teams your board will face in the Group Stage >August 7th, 8th, 9th First, second, and third Day of competition >August 14th, 15th, 16th Fourth, fifth, sixth day of competition, completion of Group Stage >August 22nd First day of Knockout Stage >August 23rd Final day of Knockout Stage, and the champion is crowned So what's the deal with this second deadline? This is for the strategy your team will run during the games, and it's the alternative to live managing. It's a simple text document that the rigger follows during the game that outlines offensive and defensive tactics, as well as substitutes. As for Player Cards, these are the special abilities your players will carry into the game. >Alright, I think I can handle that Perfect. The page explaining Team Strategies and how to select them is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Team_Strategies And the page for Player Cards that does the same is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Player_Cards You can send your strategies and player cards to me (SKF@8chan.co or SKF@cock.li) until July 31st, which gives me ample time to actually put them into the game. If you have any trouble with this as well, reach out. I've tried to make those two pages as accessible as possible, but I know there's still going to be issues for those putting it together. >I want to help but not do that Not a problem. Most teams don't have their roster pages filled out, and it's likely yours is one of them. Head to the wiki and fill in your team's roster page with images and brief profiles on your players. It really helps the commentators with their shitposts in-game. (Exemplar roster pages: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//ita//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//loomis//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//otter//Roster) We're always looking for 3D models of players on teams, so if you happen to know how to use Blender or have access to MMDs or similar 3D models, pass them along and we'll work on getting them into PES. We're also opening up submissions for adboards for this Cup, the field advertisements the scroll through during play. To submit them, simply post in your respective thread on /icup/, the only requirement is that the images be scaleable to 512x64, as that's the dimensions that PES needs for them to work. And as always, there's also room for any OC you guys want to put together for the tournament. t. SKF
