Christmas Haul Thread Legoman 12/25/2019 (Wed) 19:02:27 No.186
What did you guys get for Christmas? My family gave me these 2 this year
Nothing. As Legos are for chlidren, as I was told
>>199
Do you still buy Lego or is the only Lego you have stuff from your childhood?
>>200
I still buy new sets, buy only my wife understands me. My parents actually called me a manchild, when we visited them on Christmas
>>201
At least you have somebody that supports you, it always nice to have someone that shares your hobby or is perfectly fine with it.
>My parents actually called me a manchild
Man that sucks, how did you respond?

Its only really my mother that is fine with my hobby while the rest of the family look down on me for it, but fuck them. Think about it - those fuckers are bland, copied and pasted shells of people with few interests and even fewer (if any at all) hobbies. As far as I see my hobby it's a productive hobby that gives me immense satisfaction and doesn't affect anybody else in any way, shape, or form. Don't let them drag you down anon.

Pic related; all sets were used but mostly complete and in nearly perfect condition. Seems like all of the builds were put together once and never taken apart. All the minifigs are basically mint.

The best part was being told "I checked Bricklink for all of these to compare prices before I bought them".

I had a conversation with an anon when we were back on 8chan about something similar. We were discussing about the history old figures (specifically the classic spacemen) have when parts of them are worn away or damaged. I think these sets have a similar history - just who was this person who never played with these sets? Were they a collector who bought them BNIB a couple of years ago and built them for display, or maybe bought for a child who soon grew out of Lego? Why would a child forget about so many of their toys?
>>204
It seems like some kids play with their legos by assembling the set and then putting it on a shelf. All the sets here >>203
had all of their instruction books and catalogs in perfect condition inside the boxes. I saved the instructions from all my sets as a kid because my mom told me to, but I could never see myself keeping all the boxes. Then again, I never kept a set together for more than a couple weeks.

I know kids play differently, but I fail to see how a kid can play with a set like that. What's the point of a one use toy?
> I saved the instructions from all my sets as a kid because my mom told me to
Do kids really throw them away? I've never met anyone who throws them away.

This is a horrible way of viewing things. It's better to think rationally instead of shoving them off. Do not justify something you do simply because it makes you "feel good". Normalfags do this as well, just different kinds.

Well its a lot more than just that, I'm able to express myself creatively through the medium in a way that not many other mediums could offer. Being able to create my own stories and builds is an enjoyable form of escapism that isn't to the detriment of others (or myself), so I'd consider it a lot better than the alternatives that my family and other normalfags take
I got the elf Clubhouse and also a Christmas tree delivery mini set. Pretty nifty. The holiday sets make great decorations too.

>>822 The holiday sets are excellent and I regret not committing myself to getting them. Did you buy them for yourself or were you given these as presents? I was given 2 Harry Potter CMFs this year from my family.
>>837 They were presents. My mom's been giving me a big set every year for 4 or 5 years now. I think the very first one was the Christmas train.
>>840 You've got one awesome mom anon, take good care of her.
>>841 I know and I try my best to.
