Meta Thread Legoman 10/05/2019 (Sat) 16:18:53 No.1
Remember to follow the rules ( https://anon.cafe/lego/rules.html ) and have fun! This thread is for any queries you may have for the board, suggestions for improvements, etc.
Edited last time by LordVladek on 05/26/2020 (Tue) 22:56:33.
I know the BO was messing with the CSS, so I want to tell him that he can test features by opening up the settings and going to the CSS tab.
>>10
Ah shit, I didn't realise. Thanks man.
For my future reference, is it alright to sell things on here or would that be against the rules?

I can't actually access the rules page for whatever reason, so I'm having to ask here
>>60
It's not against the rules, but I want to make it clear that I am in no way responsible for it (i.e. if there's a problem with either the seller or buyer it isn't my responsibility to sort it out). I don't know if there's a big enough demand here and there aren't many people posting; you may be better off posting in the BST thread on 4chan's /toy/ board.

Can you try to access the rules again please? I should've sorted the issue, thanks for highlighting it.
>>61
Yep, rules are working now.

And you're right, I forgot about /bst/. I had it in my head that selling was against the rules on 4chan for some reason. Thanks.
>>62
No problem, glad to help anon.
>Rules are working
That's good to hear
The current CSS as of this posting looks a bit like you copied /late/'s CSS but left out some styling
>>96
Yeah, I liked the CSS so I unashamedly copied it. I'll iron out the kinks later. If it's awkward you can always switch the appearance from default to clear in the top bar.
>>97
I was thinking about making like a dark lego technic css, I could help make you a dark lego css if you're interested
Open file (110.00 KB 800x250 lego-bg.png)
Open file (134.00 B 3x3 lego-t-bg.png)
Here's a background you can use for body
Lego fonts;
>font-family: "CircularPro","Noto Sans JP",Arial,sans-serif;
>font-family: Lato,sans-serif;
You could also change the
>border-radius: 3px;
for the inner posts
Could maybe use lego-t-bg for the
>#postingForm th
its a small repeating image
These are just some suggestions, its up to board owner which to use
>>100
Go ahead, but I'm a beginner at CSS. I only started tinkering with and learning about CSS after 8chan went down so you'll have to bear with my stupidity. I'm more than happy to help though and definitely interested. What exactly do you mean by technic CSS? Are you referring to the dark colour scheme of the technic boxes?

>>101
Thanks man, I've implemented your suggestions but I can't find how to implement "#postingForm th" at all and searching online doesn't bring anything up.

Are you the /server/ BO, by the way? I've been there quite regularly recently and your skills with CSS are amazing.
>>105
Yeah
I see more of fixes one could make
You just put
#postingForm th{
background: #292929 url('https:// ');
}
At the bottom in the style sheet and it should work, you can put in an image url where it says https://
>>106
Thanks again for the help, it's been added.
So 8kun is online and working (sorta) so I've archived all the threads from /lego/:

Fuck, I could've sworn it archived fine. Currently re-archiving it, will edit the post so its updated.
>>133
It has now been updated, thanks for highlighting the problem.
This is an obvious newfag question, but why is the post name Legoman? I figured it would be something like Maniac because of the commercials.
>>174
>obvious newfag question
I wouldn't say it is, considering I implemented it first on this board. I couldn't think of a Lego-related spin on Anonymous, so I settled with Legoman. Honestly didn't think of Maniac but it would annoy me if there were two types of default for Anonymous. God forbid we have to create another board, but I think I'll switch to it.
So apparently with the site going down or something else we've lost a page or 2 of threads. If you lost your thread, I apologise for any inconveniences, and you are more than welcome to repost them
Got sick of the dark CSS so I switched to a lighter version. If there are any issues with it please let me know.
>>403 I think you should switch it up every once in a while to different baseplate colors
Open file (373.48 KB 245x160 spaceship.gif)
>>422 >baseplate colors PASTEL LIGHT GREEN
>>422 >>425 You guys don't ask for much, do you? When I've got time I'll work on pastel light green, light bley, and a light pink. Hope that satisfies you guys.
>>425 That's honestly the color I had in mind when I typed that.
>>426 >>429 I just have really fond memories of pastel green baseplates from Paradisa. For the rest this board's just fine.
>>430 Yea the green would be good. even the grey would be cool. Nice board. I'm the winterbuilder that posts MOCS of my city when it snows out.
>>430 >I just have really fond memories of pastel green baseplates from Paradisa. It's my favorite shade of green baseplate
>>432 So do you live in a really snowy country or do you only post those MOCs every winter? >>433 The dark green just feels too forest-like for me as well. In fact, when is LEGO releasing proper backdrop plates with various sky colors? Sure, I like building my own backdrops with baseplates and connectors but I need sky blue and night blue as well then instead of just basic water blue. My apartment walls don't make for flattering backgrounds.
>>434 WInter for me is Late November-March although it didn't snow at all this winter So I didn't do any building. All summer I collect odd lots off CL and other sites.

>>435 Fair enough, I'll trade you all the cruddy cold weather here for more sun.
>>436 Pass... I can't sand the cold weather but I own and run a business here. Too much to relocate at this point. I'll have to post some pics when I get a chance. Just discovered this place. Better then /toy
Open file (222.90 KB 800x600 weather strips.jpg)
>>434 >My apartment walls don't make for flattering backgrounds. If it's not important for the backdrops to be genuine Lego, large sheets of colored posterboard are cheap and available in many colors
>>432 >>435 Yeah I remember you, you hoard Lego for the winter don't you? I'd be tempted to do the same but winter is normally fairly mild for me so it just wouldn't be the same as building it when it's snowing.
>>439 That would be me! I don't know what's going to happen this summer. I had been buying some pretty large lots too in the past years. Then with the mild winter... Nothing got built. Alas... I'm thinking with all this time off I might add something to my city. Not sure what. Maybe a Medical Walk In Center for the sick! LOL I'm really bummed out though... No pick a brick... No S@H city stuff that I want. Everything is backordered or unavailable... :-(
>>441 Thought I recognised you. Hang in there, hopefully when this is all over stores will be having massive sales to clear space for new stock and you can hoard enough to last for a few winters.

PLEASE READ Ok so /lg/ has particularly deteriorated lately (not that it hasn't been going downhill over the years) and I've started to see people posting about how here is a better alternative. I really appreciate anons saying this place is a better alternative, it means a lot. What are your opinions on the rules right now? https://anon.cafe/lego/rules.html I was thinking of introducing "no e-celeb/drama threads" because I don't see how these kind of threads are ever going to be quality. What do you guys think?
>>491 Oh and I was also thinking of including /tv/-tier posts under spam (such as anything -oomer, 'cringe', 'based', wojaks/pepe, etc)
>>491 Seems sensible. You've already got forced anon enabled so that will cut down on namefagging attempts. New arrivals must be forcefully acclimatized.
>>491 You're the boss, applesauce. Keep this place clean according to your standards and people will either make the cut or they won't. Like this anon said >>493 >New arrivals must be forcefully acclimatized. The reason 4chan went to shit was because newfags weren't forced to browse /b/ until they understood how the site worked.
>>493 >namefagging But that's the reason why they want to move here
>>491 I assume that that general was once of very high quality. Certainly it’s no great complement to be better than cuckchan. >>496 They can practice their filthy habits elsewhere. No names here, only bricks.
>>498 What about cringey avatars?
>>499 I don’t think I want to know. It’s up to the board owner but I think we should refrain from posting such guro of the soul.
>>491 The rules are fine, but if this place becomes an emigration destination for /toy/'s trash then the most important part becomes enforcing said rules. Yelling and throwing insults at trolls doesn't do a thing, but neither does ignoring them (that just makes them more desperate or worse, thinking their garbage is tolerated). The pace of this board is fine for me, I don't need 24/7 'discussions' on freaking LEGO of all things. Every now and then someone posts a cool MOC or asks an interesting question, so it's all good.
Thanks for the feedback guys, the rules have been updated. Currently wanting your opinions on: -Bootleg and clone brands. Continue to not allow it? Allow it but if contained to a single thread? -Shitposting - should it be contained to a single thread to prevent the catalogue from being clogged?
Off-brand: Nope, if they want to talk about fake bricks they can go to that other place. /lego/ should be for LEGO. Same with shitposting, if someone is bored enough to do that here of all places it should count as spam/trolling.
>>509 I think single containment thread for bootleg is bearable.
>>509 /pbbg/ moves slowly enough that I don't see a need for it here.
>>510 >>511 >>513 Thanks for the input, I've decided that I'll direct anyone wanting bootleg/clone brand discussion toward alt/toy/ over on https://prolikewoah.com/toy/. Shitposting won't be allowed either.
>>450 Here we are a couple months later. No huge store sales. Shelves picked clean in fact at regular price with no new stock. Shop@Home has been dismally back ordered forever. I now spend my days laying on the beach with not an urge to build. (Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me?)
>>591 I'm really disappointed too, even trying to find the CMFs has become harder. What kind of people are going out of there way to buy Lego during a time like this? >Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me? Hang in there! Have you tried looking on online marketplaces (eBay, Gumtree, Facebook, etc)?
>>591 >I now spend my days laying on the beach with not an urge to build. >(Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me?) Dude what. Let's trade.
The dark blue used in the OP background (#26365a) is too dark and makes the black text hard to read. Could you make it a bit lighter?
>>608 OK, could you try out this: .opCell, #divThreads>.unhideButton, .catalogCell, .floatingMenu, .modalDecorationPanel, #actionsForm details[open], #postingForm { background: #2d406c; border: 1px solid #000000; border-radius: 10px; } Just put it into the CSS box by going to settings in the nav bar at the top. If it still doesn't work I can make it lighter, my eyes are a bit funny so what seems fine to me is awkward for others.
>>591 >>600 Media and other sorts of "solitary" entertainment seem to be high demand (and high price in terms of aftermarket) right now, and I don't think stimulus checks have helped people to be frugal about what they buy when it just comes off as free money.
>>608 Does this >>616 work? If so I can change the CSS.
>>622 >>616 Still too dark. I've found that this line fixes my problem effectively while still keeping the current theme: >html {color:#FCD202} a, .quoteLink, .linkSelf, .linkQuote { color:#FD5308}
This could also be inputted: .selectedCell { position: relative; display: block; padding: 0.5rem; background-color: #26365a; min-height: 4rem; }
>>661 Forgot to mention but also this: .extraMenu div, .hideMenu div { margin: 0 0.5rem; color: #000000; cursor: pointer; } .menuClose { color: #999999; cursor: pointer; float: right; font-size: 1.5rem; line-height: 1.5rem; } .menuClose:hover { color: #e6e6e6; }
>>637 >>661 >>662 The CSS has now been adjusted.
>>665 I like the look of your board.

I'm really sorry for abandoning this board, 2020 was an unbelievably bad year for me and I haven't had any time to myself. I've been stuck in some sort of limbo for the better part of the year and it's felt like one long unending nightmare. I'm going to really give it a go this year and get the board going again, and I especially want to give a massive thank you to the anons that have still stuck with the board despite how quiet it's been here. I was thinking that rule 1 should be dropped in favour of allowing NSFW material but containing it to a thread and enforcing spoilers on it. Figured we have to have some advantage over 4chan if we want to attract people and that's one thing I've had complaints about. Hot glue would still be banned though because that it's disgusting.

So after migrating here from 8chan, the /lego/ board has finally been deleted on 8chan (now 8kun). So now /lego/ has the claim to fame that on a website renowned for it's ties to cheese pizza and mass shootings, and whose owners defended all of this under free speech, /lego/ was just too hot to handle. Yeah I'm bending the truth slightly but it sounds impressive when you say the /lego/ was b& from 8chan
