Meta Thread Legoman 10/05/2019 (Sat) 16:18:53 No.1
Remember to follow the rules ( https://anon.cafe/lego/rules.html ) and have fun! This thread is for any queries you may have for the board, suggestions for improvements, etc.

>>498 What about cringey avatars?
>>499 I don’t think I want to know. It’s up to the board owner but I think we should refrain from posting such guro of the soul.
>>491 The rules are fine, but if this place becomes an emigration destination for /toy/'s trash then the most important part becomes enforcing said rules. Yelling and throwing insults at trolls doesn't do a thing, but neither does ignoring them (that just makes them more desperate or worse, thinking their garbage is tolerated). The pace of this board is fine for me, I don't need 24/7 'discussions' on freaking LEGO of all things. Every now and then someone posts a cool MOC or asks an interesting question, so it's all good.
Thanks for the feedback guys, the rules have been updated. Currently wanting your opinions on: -Bootleg and clone brands. Continue to not allow it? Allow it but if contained to a single thread? -Shitposting - should it be contained to a single thread to prevent the catalogue from being clogged?
Off-brand: Nope, if they want to talk about fake bricks they can go to that other place. /lego/ should be for LEGO. Same with shitposting, if someone is bored enough to do that here of all places it should count as spam/trolling.
>>509 I think single containment thread for bootleg is bearable.
>>509 /pbbg/ moves slowly enough that I don't see a need for it here.
>>510 >>511 >>513 Thanks for the input, I've decided that I'll direct anyone wanting bootleg/clone brand discussion toward alt/toy/ over on https://prolikewoah.com/toy/. Shitposting won't be allowed either.
>>450 Here we are a couple months later. No huge store sales. Shelves picked clean in fact at regular price with no new stock. Shop@Home has been dismally back ordered forever. I now spend my days laying on the beach with not an urge to build. (Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me?)
>>591 I'm really disappointed too, even trying to find the CMFs has become harder. What kind of people are going out of there way to buy Lego during a time like this? >Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me? Hang in there! Have you tried looking on online marketplaces (eBay, Gumtree, Facebook, etc)?
>>591 >I now spend my days laying on the beach with not an urge to build. >(Could this be an onset of yet another dark age period for me?) Dude what. Let's trade.
The dark blue used in the OP background (#26365a) is too dark and makes the black text hard to read. Could you make it a bit lighter?
>>608 OK, could you try out this: .opCell, #divThreads>.unhideButton, .catalogCell, .floatingMenu, .modalDecorationPanel, #actionsForm details[open], #postingForm { background: #2d406c; border: 1px solid #000000; border-radius: 10px; } Just put it into the CSS box by going to settings in the nav bar at the top. If it still doesn't work I can make it lighter, my eyes are a bit funny so what seems fine to me is awkward for others.
>>591 >>600 Media and other sorts of "solitary" entertainment seem to be high demand (and high price in terms of aftermarket) right now, and I don't think stimulus checks have helped people to be frugal about what they buy when it just comes off as free money.
>>608 Does this >>616 work? If so I can change the CSS.
>>622 >>616 Still too dark. I've found that this line fixes my problem effectively while still keeping the current theme: >html {color:#FCD202} a, .quoteLink, .linkSelf, .linkQuote { color:#FD5308}
This could also be inputted: .selectedCell { position: relative; display: block; padding: 0.5rem; background-color: #26365a; min-height: 4rem; }
>>661 Forgot to mention but also this: .extraMenu div, .hideMenu div { margin: 0 0.5rem; color: #000000; cursor: pointer; } .menuClose { color: #999999; cursor: pointer; float: right; font-size: 1.5rem; line-height: 1.5rem; } .menuClose:hover { color: #e6e6e6; }
>>637 >>661 >>662 The CSS has now been adjusted.
>>665 I like the look of your board.
>>666 Thanks Satan
Just found this board. Was mostly on /monster/ regularly. Been building since early childhood only recently found some cooler custom printing.

Removed banners 13, 14, and 15. I always thought I done a shit job of them. Made a new banner out of a photo I found on 4chan /toy/.
>>735 I really liked the train one I always smile when my Darth Vader banner comes up.
>>811 I'll re-add the train one for you anon
I'm really sorry for abandoning this board, 2020 was an unbelievably bad year for me and I haven't had any time to myself. I've been stuck in some sort of limbo for the better part of the year and it's felt like one long unending nightmare. I'm going to really give it a go this year and get the board going again, and I especially want to give a massive thank you to the anons that have still stuck with the board despite how quiet it's been here. I was thinking that rule 1 should be dropped in favour of allowing NSFW material but containing it to a thread and enforcing spoilers on it. Figured we have to have some advantage over 4chan if we want to attract people and that's one thing I've had complaints about. Hot glue would still be banned though because that it's disgusting.

That would be a good compromise.

>>830 That reminds me of the service icon from old lego catalogs. Here's an attempt.
>>834 I'm torn, on the one hand it looks like you left some vectorization artifacts in but on the other hand they make the minifig look like he's mocking you and that amuses me. Other than that replacing "www.lego.com" with something like "cafe/lego/" seems like a smart move.

>>847 It's a crude rasterization I whipped up in a few minutes. It's not vectorized, and the text is not arching quite perfectly. Here's a less lazy version.
Open file (7.46 KB 135x135 Spoiler 2.png)
>>834 >>848 This is amazing anon! I tried out the 270x270 version but it was a bit too big so I scaled it down to 135x135.
>>857 I'm glad it's good enough. Sorry, I didn't mean to impose a change on the spoiler picture. The yellow one was nice too.
>>816 >I was thinking that rule 1 should be dropped in favour of allowing NSFW material but containing it to a thread and enforcing spoilers on it. /lego/ has now been marked NSFW per >>>/meta/13857 so feel free to continue.
>>858 Don't feel bad anon, yours is much better. >>865 Apologies admin as I forgot about marking the board NSFW when I changed the rules.

Posting this here to remind me to change the CSS
>>911 What red? The clickables are in orange, which is a secondary color. I think the blue is easy on the eyes as it is.
Altered the CSS >>921 Removed the orange and lightened the blue slightly anyways.
So after migrating here from 8chan, the /lego/ board has finally been deleted on 8chan (now 8kun). So now /lego/ has the claim to fame that on a website renowned for it's ties to cheese pizza and mass shootings, and whose owners defended all of this under free speech, /lego/ was just too hot to handle. Yeah I'm bending the truth slightly but it sounds impressive when you say the /lego/ was b& from 8chan

Could you add the board favorite star to the header of the default board CSS?
>>1115 Apologies, I removed it when I was messing around with the CSS a while back and forgot to put it back. It's been fixed now.
We need to give /lego/ more life so the board doesn't get eventually deleted.
>>1265 You should also delete >>1264
You should delete (or use spoiler with) this >>1274 >>1276
