What spray paint is the most similar to Daniel Defense's RIS FDE? I have seen a few FDE variants but they end up too light, or too brown. Any anons know of any matchup? Alumahyde? Duracoat?

I'm looking for a practical plinker that would be good for a camp fun gun or squirrel blaster that is also easy to pack. Is a Henry AR-7 worth it or should I spend the money and buy a Ruger 10-22 take down? The way I see it the AR-7 is better for packing away but mags are not as available and more expensive, by only a few dollars though. But the feed ramps are built into the mag meaning if the mag shits the bed it shits the bed with a wet brown flood. Ruger mags exist everywhere and in various capacities but the disassembled rifle size is still not so small and now you have two separate pieces that unless you have a special pack with proper "tie-downs" or get the more pricey magpul stock version you end up rattling and clanking in your bag. To throw a monkey wrench into this I've also been looking at browning SA-22s since they have a take down ability and the built in tube mag appeals to me since I can top off the rifle instead of having to swap mags or buy a bunch of new ones
>>933 The 10/22 is the first rifle I owned, and a lot of fun to shoot. AR-7 isn't bad at all though. The AR-7 is a great candidate for bringing with you in a pack or small storage. It beats the 10/22 when it comes to storage and it is lighter. The AR-7 unfortunately loses a point in ergonomics because it is missing a handguard, but its still good. Both are great options depending on what you prefer, more ergonomics for more space/weight, or less ergonomics for less space/weight? I don't have any experience with the SA-22, but that also may be a great choice.

Any strelok here have experience with removing A2 barrels? I've got a used gun poorfag and I need to replace the barrel, but I think there's a broken pin that's preventing me from removing the barrel.

>>1460 Every time I see that, I get annoyed the guy didn't put appropriate covering over the trenches. He obviously had the time and could get the materials, and historically they would cover the trenches if they did/could. Are there any sites, .pdfs or videos that talk about the shockwave of hand grenades in detail? Asking because as far as I'm aware, hand grenades have pretty much 0 lethal shockwave, a few dozen centimeters at most (which doesn't matter, because at that distance your #1 problem is still the fragmentation) they kill entirely with fragmentation. However I see many retards on video comments who think hand grenades are somehow a 155mm artillery shell and will rupture your organs 5+ meters away even if you're wearing full body armor. I tried finding information about this myself but all I come across are stupid articles on generic explosives shockwave, not hand grenades.
>>1551 I can't help you directly, but there are offensive and defensive grenades, the latter usually don't have a fragmentation sleeve and they rely on the concussive force of the explosion. A classic example for an offensive grenade is any variety of the German ˝potato smasher˝.
>>1552 >there are offensive and defensive grenades, the latter usually don't have a fragmentation sleeve I mean the former. It's the offensive grenades that aren't meant to have fragments.
Is there any guide or general idea for gear setup that uses your ccw stuff but allows you to do roof gook and nigger blockade work? Like having your ccw setup for when the news faggots or cops come by looking for them "white supremacists", but then you can quickly run back to your gear in the car or pickup you're raifu that's hiding behind the beer cooler when the marathon americans show up. Should you sacrifice some concealment for security by using a retention holster even if it's not you're ccw (I'm talking about xboxhueg bank vault like safariland type holsters not serpas)? Is having a shoulder bag with mag pouches good enough? Or should you be using a low pro chest rig under a button up shirt looking like the extra thicc memeber of smash mouth? Is any of this worth considering in the context of recent events or should one just say fuck it and dust off the old alice webbing or plate carrier with all the pouches?
>>1471 You can't wave your roleplaying cock if nobody can see the trenches.
>>1551 Can't they seriously fuck your eardrums though? If your eardrums rupture that's not only means intense pain, it could easily mean loss of balance as well. t. has had ruptured eardrums
Are there any online ammo stores anyone here swears by? I've used ammunitionstore for bulk shit maybe once per year and 1 or 2 local places for everything else for the past 5 years but that's about it.

>>1560 I admit that I'm not qualified to give you advice, but methinks that if it comes to the point that you need to fend off a pack of wild niggers with firearms, then having one or two extra magazines for a pistol won't help you. You should get a belt with ammo pouches for your rifle, because taking off a single belt isn't that much of a hassle. And I don't think that a plate carrier makes much sense if your enemies are literal niggers.
>>1560 If you're fighting for your life, forget optics and do what's most effective. What's the point of looking like a good goy to the press if you end up dead? Not to mention, the press isn't averse to sticking around while niggers nog out, especially if there's some hu-white male shooting them peaceful protestors. Cops are going to attempt to arrest you either way if there's reports of you shooting people.
>>1623 9mm can and will fuck you up. God forbid one of them has a gun from a looted pawn shop.
>>1560 Why put yourself in the line of fire for no reason? You're just going to get yourself hurt and potentially have murder charges put on you. If you have to defend yourself then you don't have to larp when the media shows up. They WILL get their footage one way or another so fuck risking your weapon being stolen because you tried to hide it during a chimp out.
I have a Saiga rifle in 7.62x39mm with an unthreaded barrel that I'd like to have a muzzle device attached to. Is there any reason I would need to have it threaded for 14x1mm, or can I use any thread pattern I want?
>>1675 Not that I know anything about this, but I assume you would just use whatever thread pattern is industry standard, Russian standard, or whatever the pattern is on the muzzle device you want to use.
>>1675 Theoretically speaking, as long as there is enough material after you cut the thread it doesn't matter. Now, we don't know how thick the barrel is, we don't know what kind of threads you want to cut, and we don't know what kind of a muzzle device you want to attach. Theoretically it might be possible that your threads will cut away too much material and if you attach a big and heavy muzzle break, then I can see it flying forward along with the threaded part of the muzzle. And it being a gas-operated weapon, it's also possible that it won't function properly without that missing piece of barrel. But it would be a pretty extreme case.
I've taken to keeping a gun in my vehicle lately, and I was wondering if leaving it in there outside of controlled temperatures will fuck it up over time. I mean, obviously I'm going to keep taking it out to the range and cleaning/oiling it afterward, but I was wandering if being left in the heat of a baking automobile would damage it in any significant way.
Does anyone happen to have poorfag's gun guide infographic? I had it saved somewhere but can't find it.
>>1745 I managed to find it. Here it is in case someone else is interested.
>>1596 Checkout LAX ammo they have really good deals on new ammo and inhouse reloads
>>1714 What material is the gun made of? Does it have a wooden stock?
>>1714 Your car does not get hot enough to damage a firearm. However, humidity is an issue, both towards rust, but also with any wood your firearm may have. A wooden stock may crack after a long time of heat and humidity. If you keep it regularly cleaned and oiled you should be fine, though i don't personally recommend storing firearms in a vehicle. It becomes super easy to steal.
>>1745 This >>1748 is outdated. Here is the new one per the OP who updated it on jewlay.
>>1882 That's assuming the poor bastards can even get your order out. They've been besieged since the start of the riots and are running out of Randy's Donuts ever since it got burned down, no Texas glazed donuts and premium fritters means no defenders at the fence. To make matters worse they've been reduced to using strips of 5.11 cargo pants to sling their ammo at attackers since they're guns were confiscated by the LA county board of equality.
>>1900 kek'd
>>1893 >jewlay This was actually made before 8chan died. It needs an update, but as major a one as the one you're linking to did when the one you're posting was made. Just some v2s on the pistol, adjusting the shotguns to reflect that some are no longer imported, dropping Surefire and modernizing the prices.
>>1882 >LAX ammo This, bought a few hundred rounds of their .44 magnum for brass and it's been consistently good. On that note, consult multiple aggregators like AmmoGrab and Gunbot for best results.
>>1915 yeah i get all my shit from them since they have good bulk deals for muh prep and all the meme calibers for muh surp
>>1912 I know. I was just posting this because it was the latest update that I got out of the dead thread. If you have a good start on how to give it a true update, then why not make a new thread for it?
>>1883 >>1890 It's a Beretta M92, so no wood, but there is potential humidity issues where I'm at. I have a locked glove compartment so if some nigger is going to steal it they'd have to completely destroy some shit to get it, but thankfully I don't live around niggers.
>>951 I am seriously looking into a 10/22 takedown. In my current situation I'm only comfortable getting something that can be easily taken down, so I'm looking at the AR-7 as well. Or even the Savage 64 takedown which I hear is not very good. Do you just hold the AR-7 by the barrel when you shoot with it, or what? I'm leaning towards it because it's way cheaper than the 10/22 and packs up smaller. I'm also looking at some centerfire takedown type rifles, like the Keltec Sub2000 and SU16, the Ruger PC Carbine, and a few others. But everything, even used, is pretty much price gouged from what I can see. Should I just try to visit local stores to see what they have in stock? I was even thinking of building an AR with a quick detach barrel but I'm poor and I can really only spare maybe $300. That's why I'm leaning towards a $250 AR-7 and a few bricks of .22LR. Anything else I should be looking at?
>>1939 Well, honestly I wouldn't recommend buying a new Savage 64. Maybe you can buy a used one from someone. I seen them go very cheap because usually the person who owned the savage bought a 10/22. He can also probably throw in a few magazines as well. You can hold the AR-7 by the barrel, but I held it with my hand resting on the magwell and it works fine too. It shouldn't get hot, considering its .22LR and has a small mag capacity (I think the largest mag I seen for it is 15 rounds). I don't have experience with centerfire takedown type rifles. If I am going to bring a centerfire rifle with me, I prefer it to be full sized and ultra reliable, so I don't have much experience in this topic.
I'm drawing a blank on that prolific American soldier with big glasses that was a popular meme back on 4chan and 8chan. Any help?
>>1939 Consider a combo .22/.410 takedown, it would greatly expand the types of game you could take with negligible weight difference (4.6lbs vs 6 lbs). Being able to take birds reliably would be a huge advantage in any survival situation.

>>1939 I have a 10/22 takedown, 2nd gen sub 2k, SU16, and a family member has a 50~ year old AR-7. My takedown came with the carry case/backpack that easily holds 4 CCI ammo boxes, some lube, a boresnake, and a 3 25 round mags, plus the 10 round it came with. Also has room for another barrel if you have the shekels, but that's where I store the oil and boresnake plus a 4x4x4 box of shells. Cute gun, accurate enough, decent sights, it's a 10/22 but with a gimmick. As much as I love the novelty of the Sub 2k, the recoil is comparable to any run of the mill AR despite being 9mm, the charging handle is pretty unergonomic, and the irons leave a lot to be desired. If I wasn't dedicated to keeping the folding gimmick it'd really benefit from literally any red dot. Thinking about gitting gud and pairing it up with my 92 thanks to mag interchangeability for competitions or something. The AR-7 is honestly the most fun to shoot for some reason. Sights are nice and open and accurate enough for what it was designed for. Not much else I can say. Can't really compare it to the newer ones having not shot one. My SU16 grenaded with less than 400 rounds and I lost the receipt to send it back for repairs. I keep it around as a reminder to never give kel-tec a single cent again and to warn others of my own mistake.
Any way we can make a comprehensive rework/update of shtf/prep thread? Every time it goes up a lot of great info gets posted into replies, but gets lost over the years as boards change. I’d be down to help

Best camo for central Illinois? Does it vary by season?
Yes, it varies with the seasons. Winter is very muted, greys, browns, and ashy green. Summer is bright greens, fall is reds, oranges, yellows and browns. >>2049
>>2051 Any specific camos or just any camo that matches your descriptions? I'd love to walk around with some ruskie nigger camo pants in the summer for the lols. Not sure if it matters but i'm in a rural area that's basically all flat farmland
I have 25 acres of hills, ravines, and thick woods. I think the flat farmlands that have been cultivated no longer bear the wildness that the terrain would once have offered. A chubby middle-aged woman in baggy jogging pants would suffice as camouflage in that area. Actively smoking a cigarette would amplify effectiveness.
>>1999 yeah you can see them when he's at the back of his car changing weapons and they're also visible in his arrest video but the quality is shit and I don't know boots anyway
My dad is buying new pistols. He is buying a Kimber 1911 for around $700 and a S&W SD9 for $300. Isn't the Kimber meme shit, and are the prices alright? The guns will be brand new. My dad is a no-guns and I don't really spend time looking at pistols because I'm more of a rifle type of guy.
>>2158 Kimber shit is usually 800+. Should be fine for both, just burn some ammo to break them in.
The boots look like DANNER DESERT TFX HOT UNIFORM BOOTS WITH A-TACS CAMO.
>>2158 Check the ejector on the Kimber for looseness or you may end up with erratic ejection patterns that may eventually impact you're pistols reliability. Of course no gun shop will allow a newfag or at least a new customer they don't know to just disassemble their stock so you may just have to buy it and shoot it before finding out. But you also probably won't end up finding out your shits loose until it fires a few times as these days manufacturers are literally gluing the part in instead of pinning it. Either way when it comes to most Kimbers you'll be needing to "break it in" as some 1911 manufacturers these days want you to do the final fitting without you knowing you're the guy completing the final step by sending a few hundred rounds down the pipe. All of this adds up to help perpetuate the 1911 is a jammomatic meme which is 90% true at least these days. The SD is not great, but not bad. the main issue is that it has a trigger that makes a Glock feel like a high end bullseye competition pistol in comparison. The trigger can be fixed with parts kits from Apex gun parts but I don't know if you'll be needing both the spring kit and trigger kit to get a good trigger. Both kits together come to about $80+delivery which basically throws you're gun cost up to ~$400 and gets you within striking distance of other better guns (assuming the trigger is something you'll feel will be needed once you start shooting the thing or you may force yourself to git gud hopefully). Is there a particular reason your're going with these two? Because it seems like a genuine commiefornia approved handgun starter getup. Or are you buying the things used from someone else (if that's the case then good, ask the fucker to let you dick with the Kimber to check for stuff and see if the guy already "broke" the 1911 in). If you can get some other alternatives try a Beretta 92/M9 or PX4 (plastic) both are about $400-$550, There's also the Sig pro 2022(plastic) that lands around the high $400 and cheap mags from mecgar can be bought for around $25. GLAWK brand GLAWKS are usually on sale for $499 but get up to ~$550 if it's in a cool caliber like 10mm. If you hate slide mounted safeties then you can try for a CZ75 or similar variants. They usually go for around $550 and mecgar mags are also available at about $25. If these pistols are to be used for concealed carry then the 1911, Beretta 92/M9, and GLAWKS are going to be the only pistols that you can just walk into a gun shop and get a holster for without having to order one from somewhere and wait.
>>2159 >>2164 My father decided on just getting the Kimber. He said he really just wanted the SD9 as a gift to me. I told him I will buy a pistol eventually, but it will most likely be a Glock/PF940. Thanks for your inputs.
I've been looking into replacing my Midwest Industries BCG and have been wondering what you guys would suggest alongside my choices: >BCM Gold Standard of the AR world for value-to-quality with exceptional QC behind them >LMT High-Quality parts alongside their enhanced BCG being designed for suppressed/SBRs/carbines and having quite a long service life I've been told. >Surefire Optimized BCG Besides having Jim Sullivan onboard to redesign the BCG, it improves feeding alongside producing a softer recoil. Also, any particular finishes I should consider like NiB, QPD, DLC, etc.?
>>1942 You're thinking of Mike Vining. >>1941 >Well, honestly I wouldn't recommend buying a new Savage 64. Maybe you can buy a used one from someone. I seen them go very cheap because usually the person who owned the savage bought a 10/22 the 64 isn't terrible then, right? Of course I'd rather have a 10/22 but as a poorfag something is better than nothing. How cheap do these go for, used? >You can hold the AR-7 by the barrel, but I held it with my hand resting on the magwell and it works fine too. thanks, good to know. >>1943 I did think about that but it seems like most of these ones are single shot types, 1 shot of .22 and one shot of .410, and as dumb as it sounds I'd like the capacity of a 10/22 or ar-7 in case I ever do need to use it for defense (as non-ideal as .22 is for that purpose). >>1950 how much do the 10/22 takedowns go for used? it's unfortunate I only recently came of age to buy something when all this shit is happening since the prices are through the roof. and spending $450 on a new 10/22 means I'd rather build an AR for the money. >As much as I love the novelty of the Sub 2k, the recoil is comparable to any run of the mill AR despite being 9mm, the charging handle is pretty unergonomic, and the irons leave a lot to be desired. okay. I do like the idea of 9mm as opposed to .22 but it seems like it may not be worth it. >My SU16 grenaded with less than 400 rounds that's a shame, because it really looks like a nice little package. what happened to it? was it the polymer receiver that failed? >The AR-7 is honestly the most fun to shoot for some reason. I'm probably leaning towards this. It stows real nice and small and it's $250 new which I can actually afford.
>>2213 Just stick with a normal BCM. The LMT shit is good but check if the gas key is a MiM part since they have been known to use MiM with bad results in the past. not that there's something horribly wrong with MiM but everyone seems to think it's the worst shit ever even though when done right it's good. The issue is outsourced pajeet made parts with half assed work. If done wrong there will be horrid results >surefire Don't be a beta tester it might be good but the BCM is cheaper and has history behind it. The surefire is still too new. If you want softer recoil get an adjustable gas block or ditch the carbine shit and go with a 20 inch rifle. >coating NiB makes cleaning a tiny bit easier compared to mag phosphate such as instead of having to use a scraper you can just brush more vigorously. At least on areas that are open, not so much the corners. As for the other two I don't have any real experience other than them making cleanup a few minutes faster. If you wan't to make the choice easier on your wallet and assuming the bolt carrier itself isn't total shit (gas key is not MiM and is staked properly) then just buy a bolt head from BCM or Daniel Defense which shouldn't run you more than 90 dollarydoos. Keep your old bolt head with your gun since they do break and you now at least have a "spare tire" to get you through whatever.
>>2275 FYI, BCM is manufactured by a ton of Mexican immigrants. Look up the tour of their facility video with the fat fuck in charge and you'll see browners everywhere in the background.
Is it possible to make a steal helmet that can resist a NATO round?
>>2318 technically yes but it'd be way too heavy
>>2324 What about a hybrid steel/composite helmet?
>>2275 Thanks again mate, I'll look into a BCM for my next bcg.
Anyone know where to get custom morale patches done?
>>2325 It's technically possible to make a high end helmet which would resist a 5.56x45mmNATO and still be in the same weight range as existing 'acceptable' helmets. You're just talking 'Carbon Nanoplate' (CNT + Steel), so you're in the exorbitant price range per unit. That being said, that's only resist. It'd block the penetration, certainly, but the kinetic energy is still going straight into your head and will do a number to you, knocking you unconscious at the least. 7.62x51mmNATO is also theoretically possible if you use copious amounts of Non-Newtonian substance as trauma padding or some serious shock absorbers, leaving you looking like a bubblehead and severely limiting your range of motion/vision (plus it'd also probably be too heavy at that point). The .50 BMG you can just forget about, far too heavy/bulky to be worn without powered armor. You've basically got a mech suit at that point.
It's pretty established that the M3/M5 Stuart's cannon was insufficent for the armor of current German tanks. Seeing how the Koreas and China all fielded (as far as I can tell) M3/M5s: How would it fare against the armor of an M4 Sherman or T-34?
>>2528 Just as poorly as it would against the German tanks. The Stuart was a light tank, it wasn't meant to fight anything other than infantry, unarmored vehicles, and other lightly armored vehicles. Idiots just heard 'tank' and decided to force them into situations they shouldn't have been in.

Are military surplus weapons worth buying? I am only recently hoping to own a rifle have a cousin that knows more about weapons than I do. He says that milsurp is just to old to be reliable. Of course I am paraphrasing. Personally, there is just something that turns me off about how the modern rifle looks. Older rifles usually have that nice wood stock (I do realize that wood stocks are not rare or anything.)and just a nice history overall. So should I just avoid milsurp, and if so, what would you consider to be a handsome rifle.
>>2667 Milsurp is fine, just inspect whatever you decide to get in person before buying it. If this is your first gun don't buy one still caked in cosmoline, especially if you can't really examine the bore. Keep in mind that you're not going to be able to go to Walmart and buy ammo for most milsurp long guns too, so be ready to reload or pay for new rounds since most of that has dried up or is old enough that its reliability can be questioned. I do have to say that the wood stocks on milsurps hands down are better than the ones shipping on factory rifles now. What's your budget for this?
>>2259 A good price for a used savage 64 takedown is usually $150. I also recommend asking them for magazines as well and depending on what magazines they are offering, I would say offer them 10 dollars per used magazine they are offering (I only seen 10 round mags for the savage). A lot cheaper than a 10/22 takedown, as I recall a 10/22 takedown used is like $250-350.
>>2671 I'm barely getting into shooting so I'd rather get my three (rifle, handgun, shotgun) first. I'm currently waiting for a rifle from the manufacturer so I'm really in no hurry for anything at the moment.
>>2667 >Are military surplus weapons worth buying? (assuming you're an american here, i don't have any clue about the situation elsewhere) It's hit or miss and really depends on what rifle you want in particular. ever since the normal niggers bought into the gun flippers meme, it isn't really worth it to buy milsurp for actual use anymore because you can usually get a decent newly manufactured rifle for less. but if you really want to operate with a MAS 49, SKS or a Garand and have the money to put down for one and the expensive ammo that usually goes with them, there's no reason not too. They're 100 percent reliable provided they were taken care of moderately well. SKS's are still one of the best old style rifles ever produced, even the chinkshit ones. though don't try to turn them into AKs, that's where you're going to run into issues.
What are some good affordable scopes for long range shooting? What are some good affordable optics for short to mid-range? I'm looking for something to mount on a VEPR, an AR and a PTR. I don't necessarily have to get something for all three, but at least something for the VEPR would be nice, my budget is around $2000 right now, with another couple of hundred rolling in soon. I know the sub-$200 stuff should generally be skipped over, but I'm not looking to drop 3 grand on a scope either.
>>2675 Don't buy 3 guns on top of each other. Buy whatever you want to use the most and spend some time with it. Then when you're comfortable move onto the next one. Newbies always buy way too much stuff starting out and most end up losing interest. The money you spend on the extra guns will go better invested in ammo. >>2680 Define ranges. Yeah so I'm a newfag that doesn't pay attention but how exactly did 4chan /k/ get so bad? Like there's a thread about how that nig Raz is handing out weapons illegally in the heart of Seatlle and the ATF does nothing and instead of recognizing the obvious hypocrisy and what's going on politcally all they can do is shout "wow! Commies getting armed! Muh 2nd Amendment! Based!"
>>2784 so you're saying they should now be pro-restriction just because people 8chan don't like have guns? how is that any less hypocritical?

There are so many of these "I will fight alongside the pink pistols and the black panthers before I join any NAZI groups (i.e. literally anything mostly white people)" and I just wonder if these people understand how the world works and how they get by day to day.
>>2798 Guns are tools. Just like speech is. When you open up "liberty for all, including my enemies," all you're doing is giving your enemies the means and time to take away your liberty.
>>2784 >>2831 4cuck has had a core of naive lolberts and trap posting tankies arguably since the beginning (or since the begining of the skyrocketed popularity of the website as a whole, at least) . Though it was fairly balanced out with werhaboos or other shit stirers. It's just that a few years worth of high profile shootings that would render the board uninhabitable for months at a time in some cases, caused the majority of the posters including the small handful of moderately useful tripfags like Johnny Labs, or funposters like BOOF to not touch the place in a decade. leaving the current crop of reddit and /pol/ trannies.
>>2784 Owning firearms is an individual right. Worry less about commies getting armed and more about arming yourself for when they try this shit in your home area. The local government was literally the reason those dirty LARPers could gain a foothold on capitol hill so why would anyone care about the ATF's serious involvment and not simply start raiding them with small armed bands? Does anyone know why my potatoes suddenly look like shit? The second bin of them is doing alright, but definitely looks worse than it did a few days ago, but the first bin looks horrible all the sudden. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to gardening and basically just through some potatoes into a garbage can for fun and have been adding dirt slowly as they get taller. They were looking amazing just a few days ago.
>>3184 Are you fertilizing them or are you just throwing whatever shitty dirt you can into the bins? Because they absorb the nutrients in the dirt and simply adding more isn't going to help when their roots are all at the bottom of the bin while the newer soil is up top.
>>3188 It's not the best dirt but also not horrible, some compost mixed in here and there. They were doing well in the dirt I was providing for weeks up until very recently. I added some liquid fertilizer to them today in hopes they can bounce back. Though I guess now that I think about it it does make sense that the roots at the bottom could get starved of nutrients so I probably should have been using liquid fertilizer more often.
Open file (598.34 KB 500x500 ClipboardImage.png)
>>3189 I'm no homesteader but I think the best would've been going for a system like pic related, since you get to farm what's in the bottom and what is left upside gets to grow from more nutritional dirt. Talking from ignorance of course
>>3184 Check your Ph (should be alcaline, between 4.5 and 6.5) and make sure they've got plenty of nitrogen. I think they do that rolling up when there's some nutrients missing that they need.
>>3184 This may seem obvious, but have you thought about the amount of daily sunlight they get? Being surrounded 360 by completely opaque material restricts the angle sunlight can spread accross your leaves and it gets shorter exposure the further down they are like an aperature. Maybe it's that all your leaves are getting the amount of exposure they need to produce the energy to grow taller and thats why they wilt. I threw some sweet potatoes slips in the clay with nothing surrounding them and they look like overgrown bushes in about a month and a half. Before that I tried to maintain the slips floating in glasses of water with a sludgy nutrient soil at the bottom and even though fresh roots would rapidly grow within the next day it took a bout a week for them to start to wilt. I had them in the window every day and I figure it's because the leaves don't have enough sunlight through the day in proportion to their surface area because now they get to be the size of my hand (which I can easily grip a full size CZ-75) without ever needing much water, nutrigrow or pesticide the latter two i'll be desperate to nuture my crops with. This is my first time experimenting with gardening as well and the sweet potatoes are surviving, but I have yet to see any in the dirt and it's been 4 months now.
>>3190 I was aware of that system but didn't feel like building anything or getting the wood. I've just sort of made a ghetto vegetable garden. Though I'm not sure having those boxes really does anything besides making harvesting a little easier and being more aesthetic than a garbage can with burlap wrapped around it. >>3192 I don't have a Ph tester. If I ever get around to making another order for garden supplies I'll consider getting one. In the future I'll be more on the ball about fertilizing at proper intervals.
>>3194 I do try and orient them where they can get as much sun as possible. The abruptness of them wilting makes me question whether it's some sort of disease, since for a couple months they were going strong. Not much I can do about where they're growing now, next year I'll probably get around to making a proper potato box for them like this anon suggests >>3190
>>3197 I thought the same thing when I first planted mine and the leaves crumpled up yet going from slips sitting in glasses of water on a window sill to slips in the ground it was only when they were outside that new leaves would sprout the next day. When they were in the glasses for a week they only grew roots so sunlight is crucial for growing through the disease even if they only produce small spuds. If I were you i'ld take one plant out and put it in a shorter bucket of soil to grow as a side experiment.

Is (cheap) red dot parallax really bad at <10yds? I put a Vortex Crossfire II on my Mark IV pistol for pest control while I'm on the tractor or tending the garden beds. At 25yds I'm good, but for anything close I'm getting several inches of impact shift. Doesn't occur with irons, but they're not much good for low light shots.
>>3252 *random impact shifts - horizontal and vertical with same poa.
>>3252 They're parallax free, though I have a feeling that is for stuff like standard rifles and shotguns, not handgats specifically. I'd throw some paper up and see how it holds up, might be too big of a dot for the gun.
>>3205 >filtered through /b/ Faggot detected. /b/ was the board that destroyed other boards cultures. It got so big it leaked on every other board and it was dead. You tards are upset /pol/ ruined the place you already ruined.
>>3255 >like standard rifles and shotguns Yeah, that was my hunch too - eye position is relatively fixed using a stock. I might just rig a weapon light to it and stick with irons. Thanks
>>3256 Most people didn't stay in /b/ for long, I only visited for a year and a half, but it taught me basic imageboard etiquette, like not putting too much stock in what others thought and mass shaming those who did. /b/ became what it is because everyone left except the ones who came for the porn.
>>3287 I came for the shitposting. I stayed for the shitposting. It taught me the beauty of shitposting merely for the sake of causing jannies to throw themselves out of upper-story windows.
Any tips on checking the condition of a bolt action gun? I know the basics like checking for cracks, the condition of rifling etc, but some more expert tips would be greatly appreciated
>>3290 Go, No go gauges. If a bolt action wants to kerplow its usually due to the headspace being off. Actual manufacturing defects tend to not get out into public due to test firing. With rifling just look down the bore with some sort of light at the other end. Generally speaking rifling will look very defined unless wore to shit.
>>3256 Back in the day the standard way to enter 4chan was through a /b/ period then you'd branch out to whatever was more interesting after you realised how shit /b/ was. It taught you the value of anonymity, free speech and the pros and cons of having almost no moderation. Now anonymity and free speech allow you to say nigger, or discuss the shitty state of the modern west, the truths and lies of history and a whole lot else too but those are outcomes of the conditions of anonymity and free speech not the goal in and of themselves. Nowadays for any imageboard with a /pol/ the /pol/ board fulfils this function and instead of teaching people to value anonymity and full free speech (the fundamentals) and what they result in it just teaches them only to value the ability to say nigger and discuss modern politics (the outcome of those fundamentals). The average post-2014 newfag would happily use reddit or twitter instead of an imageboard if they could because they don't value imageboards and imageboard fundamentals arguably they actually even prefer limiting free speech to get an echo chamber they only value the ability to discuss their narrow topic, it's just that nowhere else other than imageboards allows that any more. Meanwhile 'true' imageboard users would not touch reddit regardless of the topics it allowed or not. This is why when discord popped up plenty of these newfags adopted it because it also (originally) allowed these topics and the fact it inherently produces non-anonymous circlejerks was neither here nor there for them even though those are fundamentally incompatible with what imageboards stand for. The problem isn't /pol/ or the topics it allows, the problem is the users who think /pol/ is the point of imageboards where it has always just been a side-effect of what imageboards are. Hell the board that resulted in /pol/ wasn't even supposed to be for political discussion only it just slid into that naturally.
>>3374 Decent analysis, and probably mostly true for most of us. I stayed with /b/ for 7+ years as well as branching out. So I understand the notions it represented back before it was cucked to hell. Still, there's a time and a place for everything under the sun, and I don't actually agree that every.single.board. has to exhibit the principles you describe. Some highly-focused boards actually benefit from tight moderation.
>>3381 Tight moderation isn't necessarily anti-free speech as long as it's done consistently and fairly, and is generally focussed on keeping the board on topic rather than on the content of posts within that topic. So if a board is SFW deleting porn is fine I mean it's a bit gay and you could just spoiler it but if you advertise your board as being about guns, for example, banning someone for expressing the wrong opinion on that topic is incorrect. This also requires that the rules be 100% clear, easily available and enforced universally so that the other situation of something being ignored just because the BO/mods like it does not occur. Like I said that's the other bit you learnt from /b/: the pros and cons of almost no moderation which teaches you that a little bit is needed if you don't just want to default to /b/.
>>3374 >Back in the day the standard way to enter 4chan was through a /b/ period then you'd branch out to whatever was more interesting after you realised how shit /b/ was. Let me put this better. YOU being cancer, went through /b/. It's the first death of 4chan and you don't remember that because you caused it. There was not almost no moderation. There was plenty of moderation. Every board was not /b/ and many of us old fags value that moderation and censorship to deal with idiots like you. I don't go to boards to say nigger, I go to them for their content. Shitting up a thread by acting like a /b/tard derailed niche boards which literally had no alternatives outside of 4chan at the time. >>3396 See faggots like you are why we need moderators to ban you. I don't want a /diy/ board full of porn. You stupid niggers are cum brained retards and you ended up on image boards because no where else would tolerate you. I started using image boards because they were unrivaled in their content before you niggers arrived. They had all the latest content and news the same way reddit now does. Which is one of the reasons image boards are dead. Idiots think it's just a place to shit post and no longer create good content. That content goes to places like Reddit and Facebook.
>>3403 >Let me put this better. YOU being cancer, went through /b/. Me being an oldfag didn't go through /b/ because I was there before you shit it up. /b/tards were hated and told to fuck off because they thought every board was XD SO RANDOM. It's the first death of 4chan and you don't remember that because you caused it. A /b/tard who demanded every board be /b/ is not the same as someone who naturally grew out of their /b/ phase and moved out to topic-based boards. Now I know you're bullshitting because prime-era /tg/ and /ck/, for example, had little-no moderation that wasn't self-moderation and they did just fine. Unless you're claiming oldfaggotry means ~2011 or something in which case you're just retarded.
>>3403 >claims to be oldfag >/b/ ruined 4chan >people who started on /b/ were the problem /b/ was literally the first board to be created with other boards spinning off as they were needed so you literally cannot have been there before /b/ shit it up because it was there before every other board. Youre pushing the same bullshit as fags saying anime wasnt always a part of 4chan even though /b/ was originally not just random but for anime too and all the other early boards were anime and hentai.
>>3396 Yea, I agree in general Anon. I think I understand the pros and the cons fairly well (I even still shitpost on /b/s occasionally b/c w/n?) I probably have a little challenge being entirely fair in the eyes of others with my moderation I imagine. We all have a bit of tunnel-vision. As far as rules go, the old saying goes 'anything you make a rule about, you have to keep making a rule about that. so keep them few'.
Anyone have recommendation regarding ALICE, MOLLE, or PLCE?
>>3474 With ALICE, just duct tape the clips. I've had a few somehow open on their own.
Does anyone have a decent helmet for ballistic protection that isn't extremely expensive? PASGTs are usually 80+ dollars and the rest are non-existent. So far the list of helmets that will stop a 9x19 PASGT, ECH, ACH, Wz 93, Wz 2000, MK 7 (maybe?), SPECTRA, maybe the SEPT 2 on the surplus market.
>>3418 What /b/ became and what /b/ originally was are very different things. The original userbase of /b/ wasn't what I would consider /b/tards. It's a very different type of person who moved in. >>3417 Niche boards needed little to no moderation I don't disagree there. Prime /tg/ was known for not having any mods because it never needed them. The current mods are fags who ban any one not pro-tranny. When /b/ went public, even pre-chanology is leaked onto other boards hard. People went to /b/ and thought all of 4chan was like /b/. They didn't understand each board was it's own little eco system and you would see obvious /b/tards regularly. Prime /tg/ had a lot of /b/tards doing the angry marine stuff.
>>3184 It almost looks like bacterial wilt. If that's what it is then you've got to begin quarantine procedures because that shit spreads. Don't touch you good plants after touching the wilty ones without washing your hands. Don't let plant material or soil transfer from the potentially infected one to the healthy one. If the second one doesn't improve after trying to remedy it in the other ways that other anons have suggested then you'll have to remove the plant and sterilize the soil.

Both have irons better than the savage but if you want the scout rifle that's true to concept then scout rifle it's not. Other than that they're good. >Spanish FR8 mauser Note the FR8 part. The spic mausers are usually a 7.62x51 caliber conversion done at armories and most of them were meant to be trainer's to teach Franco's boys how to shoot the CETME rifles at gommies. The earlier FR7 types are pretty sketchy and might actually be a bubba thing done by an importer. The FR8 is legit and you get the benefit of it being surplus priced (which means $500-$600 these days) and the neat fixed mag that let's you top off easily compared to the mag fed things that use tiny holes in the receiver as an ejector port and finger diddling preventer.

This has been eating at me for some time, but... What is the term for a language that has the most scientific terms/most used in science? I cant remember it and trying to look it up does nothing. Was not sure where else to ask.
>>3646 I couldn't find it. I don't think it's 'Lingua franca'.

>>3647 Yes I think that's the term. If that isn't it, I will find it eventually. Thank you.
>>3646 >>3649 Look up the history of Latin as it would apply that.
>>3646 Don't think there a word for the language itself. Closest I know of would be International Scientific Vocabulary, referring to the loanwords themselves rather than their origin language. Lingua Franca is the common international language, ie the language two people of different nationalities would most likely use to communicate assuming neither knows the other's native language. Which would currently be English. Doesn't really have anything to do with science, though it tends to also be the language used in international education and scientific collaboration and journals.

What is a decent 5.56 bolt carrier group preferably under $120? I am waiting for Toolcraft BCGs on primaryarms, but I do not know when they will restock. Also, another less important question. Lets say I hypothetically only shoot 5.56x45mm out of my AR. If I use a .223 Wylde barrel, will it result in accuracy loss compared to a AR barrel designated for 5.56? Autism tier question, I know. But it has been in my mind for a long while.
>>3730 Supposedly it would be more accurate, since its hurr duur best of both worlds. I think it might cause more fouling but I'm a lolpoor. Remember, you can't shoot 5.56 and .223 rem out of a .223 Wylde barrel LOL.
>>3730 I've heard the wylde is safe for either caliber but will never be good for either caliber -- you sacrifice accuracy for that "what ammo is this?" safety.
>>3780 Wylde chambers are best for heavier 75gr+ bullets, NM type shooting ammo not the 55/62gr shit everyone stocks up on.
Looking to 3D print some snap caps for shotguns. Where should I be looking for them?

I'm really ignorant about AR-15 build-culture and modern rifles in general since I'm a milsurpfag, so I'd like some input. I'm looking for a gun that's both a very practical SHTF weapon, and also actually really fun to shoot. My only 5.56 rifle, a PSA AR, is boring as fuck. Not to mention I was a tard and bought one with a front sight block. It's a chonky bitch, and I hardly bring it to the range anymore. It got me thinking why people sink as much money into higher end AR builds as they do, but since I've never shot a "good" AR, I can only speculate. I think things like a slim profile, easy trigger, and light weight would probably make it a much more enjoyable gun to shoot, not to mention, actually be handy in the field if necessary. Is that how you feel about your AR? I'm thinking it would make more sense to just sell my PSA than to upgrade it, since I'd probably be replacing most of the important parts. I also considered going the AK route for fun points, but for the money I'd spend on a good AK, it seems like you could build a god-tier AR, which would be more practical in SHTF anyway. I really like the idea of the WWSD 5-pound AR, but I think I need to wait for its release to confirm if it's a meme gun or not.
>>3804 >Retarded for the front sight block These types are objectively the best for keeping it simple and having reliability (no gas block to slip off from firing). Plus you get actually good irons assuming your rear is at least fagpul quality but could be better with a fixed rear. The only retard/uninformed tier option would be getting a 16 inch barrel with a carbine gas system >Quality differences 9 times out of 10 a shit 400 dollar chineseium tier AR can be made good by swapping the bolt carrier for almost anything made by a reputable company. Other than the bolt carrier (and having to spend the money over again), only the barrel will be something that would be expensive or hard to replace due to needing proper tools and the experience turning a wrench at least once in your life, or enough brain cells to rub together. A barrel made by companies like faxon or ballistic advantage are good for most people even in the possible chimpocalypse. But even better would be chrome lined barrels like FN or Daniel Defense. Barrels also need a well drilled gas port, cheap ass companies will chrome line first then drill causing a weak area in the chrome so most companies stick with other types of treatments to cut cost. The gas port size also varies by a fuckton even from pricier manufacturers and a wrong size can lead to either too little gas causing fuck ups with cheaper ammo (daniel defense had these issue before especially with shit like wolf or tula) or too much gas causing your gun to batter it self like carbine gas systems on 16 inchers but not nearly as bad as them (literally every manufacturer has had a time when they fucked up especially the cheaper ones or some don't even like to discuss this topic like BCM and SIG, some like SOLGW on the other hand would give you an entire list of their gas port spec ranges). This is something that could easily be fixed with an adjustable gas block assuming it's an issue with your particular rifle. The fitment between the barrel and upper receivers feed ramps can be an issue and again it's something that could be easily fixed with checking the fitment with your finger nail before buying or polishing the barrel side feed ramps only. Do not fuck with the aluminum since you may remove the hardcoat finish allowing rounds to slowly wood pecker the aluminum away like using Chip McCormick regular mag followers in aluminum 1911s. People who say they can build a better/as good rifle instead of a thousand plus gun may be true assuming the guy isn't building with gun show mystery parts or he tells you that it took all of 400 dollars or some other too good to be true price. Everything else especially parts in the lower a retard tier easy to fix or replace like triggers and buffer tube castle nuts (which I'm convinced most manufacturers don't even bother staking anymore since people can't leave shit alone and they'll just swap the receiver end plate with some qd sling thing)
>>3804 >>3807 As far as fun goes the AR is boring because everyone has one and it's easy to use. There's not much going to fix that especially if you find yourself yawning at semiauto 22lrs then the AR is even worse because ammo cost is 20 to 30 something cents a round. But if you just think of your AR as a good tool you may appreciate it for that instead maybe.

Anyone have the banner size limit? I want to get this added this is an amazon product LOL
>>3807 >>3808 So the AR is perma-boring huh? That's a bummer. Starts to make sense why people shell out 3k for SCARs and SCAR-likes. Much appreciated for the upgrade tips.
Anyone got a list of videos to help my friend learn about guns, and other /k/ stuff
>>3859 Is the friend you by any chance? If you are new to firearms, its fine. I used to be really into firearms as a child, and in late teenage years I looked more into the mechanical aspect of them. I would say the best way to learn about guns is to shoot one, buy one, or better yet, build one. After fumbling around with the firearm and playing with the bolt catch and cool switches on it, you will now know how to operate most firearms, because they are more or less the same. For example, I showed my dad my 10/22 and let fuck with it, while guiding him as he was doing so, and he knows how to manipulate rack magazine firearms, and side chargers. So if you really want to help your buddy, I would say talk to him directly about features of firearms. If you play vidya, and he has a genuine interest in talking about firearms, you can even talk to him about the firearms in vidya and how the firearms act in real life. If you live in a no funs area, or don't have the knowledge/time to show your friend how to manipulate firearms, there is a few videos he can watch that will hopefully, spark his interest. I got into the mechanics of firearms from Forgotten Weapons. Despite Karl and Ian being total faggots, InRangeTV's (yuck) monthly Q&A sometimes has them talk about the mechanics of some firearms designs, and their significance in some combat. He can also watch zoomershit channels like TheAKGuy or other channels like Larry Vickers or something. I don't really spend time on GunTube, so I'm not so sure. As for other /k/ related stuff, I don't know. Maybe check 4kikes /pol/ for some wilderness shit. I haven't been on 4chan for a few years now, and even then I really only browsed /bant/.
>>3859 If it's someone who genuinely wants to learn from fairly basic principles and has the required autism to not be put off by the video being old this series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZX7X3pJgH8 is a great start. If it's one of the discord generation I'm sure the same information is available in a video with a facecam faggot who takes 5x as long to get to the point but you'd have to ask someone else.
>>3868 >>3859 https://www.invidio.us/watch?v=NZX7X3pJgH8 if you want the placebo version, since I know someone will sperg about the direct link it's still all from google's severs and they still know exactly who's watching it, so little difference if you're already using adblockers (as you should be). At best it might help a little bit with browser fingerprinting I guess but you should be using basic opsec like a VPN before you get worried about that sort of thing.
>>3822 >So the AR is perma-boring huh? Depends on what you shoot and how you shoot many times. It's one reason people will do mall ninja tactitard shit or not be gay and get into some competition or training classes involving more than just shooting in a stationary position.
>>3866 No, I actually have a friend Anon, but thanks.
>>3730 >I am waiting for Toolcraft BCGs on primaryarms, but I do not know when they will restock. Here you go MANG https://www.armorally.com/product-category/ar-parts/?filter_manufacturer=toolcraft I've only ever bought 1 toolcraft bcg from them. Don't really have any more experience than that but I did get it in time without fuck ups.
>>3655 It's delayed blowback, so it fits. Anyone know any others?

>>3892 Hmm.. I will wait. I am not trying to get Toolcraft because of it being a Toolcraft, I just want a BCG that is alright on my wallet, and will work really well. I kinda want to keep my purchase limited to primaryarms because I also want to buy a ST Battle Trigger from them. It will most likely share the shipping so I don't need to pay 10 dollars for shipping twice. I'm kinda a poorfag, if you couldn't tell yet. I have been looking at other BCGs from companies like Aero and more. I went on Google to search for suggestions, but I sometimes forget the gun community, especially the normalfag AR communities, have some sort of brand bias. Sort of like niggers with shoes. Anyways, thanks for the link. I'll keep looking though.
>>3892 Oh yeah, forgot to mention on Primaryarms the Toolcraft BCG goes for around 80 bucks I think. On this website it seems to be 120 mark. I may be waiting for nothing because of corona-chan helping the world and race riots causing people to buy guns, but its fine.
