"Identify this film I barely remember!" thread italodisco 03/13/2022 (Sun) 21:58:51 No.2381
Figured it would be good for others, I've been scratching my brain for hours (unhealthy?) trying to remember where the he'll I saw this scene: A man wearing a hat steps outside to smoke a cigarette, when a phantasmagorical hand appears from thin air and seems to bother his psyche... The weirdest thing about this is that it felt like a silent film, but the elements like the man and his hat felt very noir-ish... And this might be the years of substance abuse catching up to me but I even remember the scene being purple tinted and the floating hand yellow tinted... Or was it the other way round! Am I losing it!
>>2438 Saw that episode, some crazy stuff there and thoroughly enjoyed it, i didn't remember that level of not having filters or censoring, i always remember the low-res genitals but here it's full on 480p. I practically stopped watching TV in 2004 other than sports and movie nights so cool to see RTV got some investments for their own products. >>2441 Yeah, didn't meant the CN bumbers as your search but as an example of their searches, which sometimes include even the bumpers. Those LM guys started strong but as everything they succumbed into identity drama (for some reason) but a couple of founders still seem to search and look into stuff so you might get something. >most creative segments were done by that particular bubble of freedom they had before every company started merging/corporatizing Many such cases, "getting in line" with the parent company/streamlining usually always destroys the independent or isolated production teams who used outside thinking to compete with big budget foes.
>>2429 >I recall you mentioning that i think, along with the music video special that you got angry because they started chopping and summarizing them rather than keeping them integral. That music video one was Techetechete, I've looked through every torrent tracker including Italian ones and no one seems to be saving these. I managed to rip about 20-30 episodes from 2021. The only downside is that, like you remembered, I think they realized they were releasing way too much so they doubled down on censoring them with cuts and bigger watermarks. Some of the pre-2019 episodes had amazing footage, most of it I haven't even been able to trace back to a source, like this one of George McCrae singing next to Gianni Morandi, Morandi was at the height of his popularity in Italy while being extremely young, and somehow managed to sell out Madison Square Garden that same year, which is the tour from which the footage comes from. I really hope to find some kind of documentary they made there but, so far, nothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J0Cz1xoWxM I just found another music video (there are quite a few) of Rock Your Baby where George is wearing the exact same shirt... I want to know more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJHyyHn1HME
>>2471 Same outfit keeps popping up, looks like they either shot a music video for it on the same day, I have a feeling they might've done a Roots Rock Reggae type docu showing different artists around NY, or an actual musical with McCrae on the lead like Figlio delle Stelle maybe I'm just daydreaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P08cLiLOmto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T2kE2w2hVU
>>2471 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fup4FfZaEBI Pretty sure this is part of the same docu, interesting how its Morandi doing the narration. I'll have to look through his IMDb, could be an episodic thing

There was a documentary about American expansion of the suburbs and the cancer of the highway system running through America narrated by a "somewhat mousy"-sounding woman in her 50s. Never wrote down the name of it.
>>2531 That doesn't really tell you squat. I think it was 50 to 110 minutes long, it briefly covered how some woman campaigned and prevented a highway cutting through Brooklyn and discussed how the upper-middle class think that the suburbs are nature. It's fairly obscure but I'd appreciate someone posting it to the documentary thread.
>>2532 Has to be this one >>2534
>>2535 It's not but I'll check this out anyway. It's production quality indicated it was of obscure status and probably made for a university library or some shit, and all of the footage was just stock images and news reel with no music.
>>2537 Do you remember where did you saw it? TV? YT? dream?
>>2538 YouTube, in 2018 or 2019.
Just remembered a strange one that I might've come across either here or the KG forum, I think it was a feature length film but it might've been a short one. There's a woman that has some sort of traumatic experience where her sister dies, when she goes back to look at the cctv she finds herself transported to that place. The climax of the film is when another man watches the cctv and gets transported himself >>2539 No cigars so far, sorry

>>2549 Britain pushed really hard for CCTV back in the 90's, it was a fad topic and very often mentioned in London areas because out of nowhere every street had them, it was the telltale sign for London residents that it was not the old city anymore but a metropolitan beast. Basically the "bin that knife" of the 90's. There's even a good electronica album about it
>>2550 God damn that is some good 90's graphic design.
Was there ever a movie where a kid "shot" up his school with bow and arrow? I thought it was Mysterious Skin but because all I got was faggotry in the first 20 minutes I read the summary and I don't think that's it.

This shouldn't be too hard, but I can't find the source after trying for 5 minutes
>>2601 The cg work is 90's commercial tier, sorry but it's likely made for social media and not really a film.
>>2601 Why would you come here of all places to request it? . . . You lazy genius, you probably knew I would look it up. Lucky you, I had seen an insane cooking video and I'm pretty sure it's the same grey cat... And if it isn't, at least you got a place to start. These are Douyin based videos, the girl is xxd220, you can probably find other batshit CGI videos following these clues. These usually get lost in the grey sea of reposts but I'm pretty sure xxd220 is a good lead, can't even find much on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX9BUFNgz-A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCCsVymKx30
>>2601 >>2618 came here to try and find a phantasmagorical memory that might not even exist, I never expected the thread to reach into hyper-CGI skits from China, but then again I should've...
>>2655 I don't know if it's true but I heard tiktok is a tool of Chinese subversion because it promotes positive behavior domestically (accomplishments requiring intelligence like the short video above) while in other countries tiktok promotes stupid behavior (twerking)

There was a Japanese horror movie called "Note to Sir" or something along those lines I saw 10 years ago but research has granted nothing.
>>2784 what era is it from? what were the plot/themes?
>>2788 I'm not sure when it came out, but I watched it in or near 2006. I can scarcely recall the plot, but I recall a very distraught woman who committed suicide and there was a curse involved I think.
>>2381 I saw what I belive to be a children's tv movie made in the 90s or early 2000s. Several kids or adults where hung in good-filled sacks off a tree, and a group of children teenagers banded together to bring the fight to the perpetrators who's leader was an evil ventriloquist dummy. They fought them with flashlights. It should be an episode of the goosebumps franchise but I can't figure out what it is!
>>2842 Night of the Living Dummy?
>>2842 Ok, the only part that matches is the flashlight scene and it's in Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes, but that might not be what you're looking for.

Scene from a movie, where I think it was either Will Smith or another black actor that looked a lot like him, playing a cop in Alaska. There's a scene where he goes in a diner and steals some dude's sandwich and eats it in front of him and mentions how there's bleu cheese in it. That's all I can remember from it.
>>2850 What?!

>>2890 I hope you're not trolling because I just spent a whole three minutes googling a mix of bluecheese sandwich + black cop in alaska in different order and... nothing.

I think this was a British movie. It opened up with some kids entering a sewer lid or some sort of bunker into a mound and the ones going into it were getting hazed or some shit. This is all very vague and I barely remember what this was about or if it was even British. If anything like this is remotely familiar help me out. The director might've been arthouse and celebrated at the time.
>>2935 More details, it was a handful of both kids and teenagers.
>>2935 You absolutely sure you're not thinking of The Goonies?
>>2940 Yes.
Fat old woman in a night gown holding a double-barrel shotgun yelling at someone to get the fuck out of her house in an emotional teary tone of voice.
>>2427 I have similar desire to watch an old Tarzan documentary making of - it showed the actor talking about how he was to wrestle an adolescent tiger but the cat was a chill with him so he ended up pulling on his ears/whiskers to provoke it and then he said he only managed to get enough for the take because the tiger interpreted him as playing a game for a while & that he got marked up everywhere >>2935 It's not what you are looking for but Paperhouse can be described as thematically similar and the quality is there. It's about a kid who gets sick, and then they start to fever-communicate with one another. Don't try to spoil/read into the ending for it, because the director hasn't said what he wanted an audience to think of it

A YouTube short I watched years ago of a man who's planning his suicide with noose ready and all, and decides to play his piano before doing so in which a crowd of people gradually begin to follow him and make merry.
>>2926 I've tried every combo of it for years, my sister is a film buff so I'll ask her if she remembers
>>2427 >pic You should watch The Fastest Indian if you haven't yet, Anon.
>>2850 >>2856 >>2926 Found it, it was Snow Dogs with Cuba Gooding Jr.
>>3140 Sir, this is a film board.
>>3141 just because it's not a french arthouse piece from 1915 describing the futility of the human condition through interprative dance doesn't mean it's not film
>>3142 True, but Snow Dogs is still not a film. It's a flick at best
>>2940 >>3057 I was the Hole from 2001.
