Anon 08/20/2021 (Fri) 14:29:22 No.5509
I miss traditional, semi-anonymous forums. Are there any that don't suck in the current year?
>>5509 I'd be shocked if there were.
I like reading The Apricity for anthrotard/cultural stuff, but the mods seem overbearing. I'm sure there are good forums out there that are flying under the radar.
Agoraroads come to mind. Path of exile off-topic and warframe off-topic are both great too. Most games have great forums soo these 2 aren't that special.
>>5509 reddit replaced them all
There are but now that "voicing opposition of the government" makes you officially a terrorist in the US now not to mention that being the de-facto policy in the whole west, get ready to learn russian or chinese if you want to get into any of the publicly accessible ones. Then, of course, you will have to deal with their bullcrap so it'll be a rock and a hard place situation. My advice is to not use public forums if you intend to keep your identity hidden from glowneighbours. You're going to need to find these groups who have gone completely underground and try to get an invite because that will truly be the last bastion of anonymity on the internet going forward. Even that won't last forever.
>>5517 >You're going to need to find these groups and how do you get there if you refuse to use social media and discord? feels like I'm trapped because I don't know anybody so I can't get into sekrit clubs
>>5518 Sekret clubs have unironically become the only option these days and finding them will take a great deal of work. General rule of thumb: don't take the low-hanging fruit. If it was easy to find avoid it. I can't really tell you much more than that. Personally I have given up on true anonymity on the internet. My strategy these days is to simply hide myself from the host so it's hard for the glowies to van me later. Frankly I've more-or-less given up on the internet as a whole.
>>5509 The fediverse.
>>5520 But avoid Mastodon instances, join a Pleroma one instead.
>>5520 I've never understood this thing, isn't it just another microblogging service for narcissists to thrive in, but decentralized?
>>5524 Pretty much. It's a federated microblogging service like the webring but with accounts :^)
>>5524 Imagine hundreds of tiny twitters that can all* communicate with each other. * Admins of some are free to block instances that they don't like, such as those with NSFW content or with political opinions they don't like. Individual users are also free to block other users or entire instances. > narcissists Don't be that way; OP asked for semi-anonymous forums and the fediverse is exactly that. It's the only place on clearnet anymore that captures the spirit of late 90's and early-to-late 00's Internet.
>>5530 >Don't be that way; OP asked for semi-anonymous forums and the fediverse is exactly that. It's the only place on clearnet anymore that captures the spirit of late 90's and early-to-late 00's Internet. I still don't see how the fediverse is like forums at all. And I really hate microblogging for some reason, you can't really communicate anything of use with that format, and people don't have talent for aphorism.
>>5533 > I still don't see how the fediverse is like forums at all. Maybe not in form, but definitely in feel and spirit. Don't let twatter taint your view of a specific manner of communication. Or do, and wander through the vast, empty desert that are image boards.
>>5519 your post was berry depressing to read. you had to leave me with quite the /blackpill/, didn't you? what have we come to? surely they can't take it all away from us...
>>5520 Which Fediverse do you recommend that will not censor anything? I want to get on board early and it won't be anonymous (because reasons) but also don't want mods picking what I see
Ehh. Anything that either promotes or assists (or both) free-speech and the free flow of information away from centralized control systems is a good thing. Anyone who says anything different is either a bike golem or a bike themselves. Enemies of humanity never want the truth to be revealed. The savior of humanity always does.
>>5542 Freespeechextremist Maybe poast Just look at the mastodon banlist and see which site has the long list of "offences"
>>5545 That's the one I've noticed. Is there one with a name that isn't lame though?
>>5547 Don't know what you consider 'lame' but, > cacaposter.club > neckbeard.xyz Second one has a lot more porn and a little more edge. First one is more comfy. But depending on who you follow it doesn't really matter.
>>5548 That wood be s h i t p o s t e r . c l u b
Personally, I'm waiting for Urbit to become viable. Supposedly there's some good stuff coming in the next year.
>>5540 Just my personal opinion, take it for what you will. They really haven't taken anything from us. We've allowed it to get this bad and this is simply the reality we now live in. As it's been said in the past you get what you tolerate.
>>5555 >"...The platform seeks to deconstruct the client-server model in favour of a federated network of personal servers in a peer-to-peer network with a consistent digital identity.[2]" The first part, A-OK. The second part, absolute pozz. This is the complete and utter antithesis of anonymous IBs. It fully embraces the globalist cyclist's vision for their Globohomo Big Tech/Gov agendas for the goyim, and it needs to die in a fire (which it will ofc). Shamefully wasted quads. >>>/lebbit/
>>5557 What's your alternative? It's supposed to be more anonymity-focused than the current Internet in that your information is kept away from prying eyes, and unlike the Fediverse you aren't relying on someone else's servers. The relative scarcity of identities is there to give people skin in the game by reducing spam and bots. Putting yourself at the mercy of server owners who can take you down if you say something they don't like isn't a viable long-term solution. Maybe Urbit won't pan out, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
>>5562 > Putting yourself at the mercy of server owners who can take you down if you say something they don't like isn't a viable long-term solution. Nothing stopping you from making your own.
>>5562 You're at the mercy of server owners who can take you down if you say something they don't like with image boards, too.
>>5563 That's one of the points of Urbit. It's supposed to be like having your own portable server system.
>>5566 It's also one of the points of the fediverse: don't like that one instance full of wokies? Go to one where they respect freeze peach. Or start your own fedi instance.
>>5569 True.
>>5548 Well it's mostly that if it's attached to an IRl ""brand"" or some kind. Freespeechextremist is a bit caca to have in your name. Of course I still want to use one that isn't censored for obvious reasons
>>5619 Trust me, nobody on fedi cares about 'brand' unless you yourself are a soysucker.
>>5621 Of course nobody on there now does. Hopefully more people will move to it and similar services
>>5634 There are lots of people there now, especially if you spend your time on the timeline which mixes together all the public timelines of eberry instance connected to the one where you're logged in.
>>5619 What is caca? And yes I use FSE account.
>>5777 Caca = polite way to say s'h'i't.
>>5780 Just another word filter.
>>5780 >polite way to say s'h'i't. It's pretty vulgar in many spanish-language places
>>5785 What polite word wood you suggest?
>>5786 I don't mind it to be fair but if we want the all-encompassing polite word then there's poo, "pu" is the usual sound i've heard to refer to it in at least 3 other languages aside from english. Sounds like babytalk but it's quite adaptable and easily understood among many.
