>>5443 xmpp and irc is /comfy/ asf desu. i mainlyuse matrix and discord, however.
>>5472 >>5443 It's better to just start a chat here
>>5476 I ate too much Mexican food last night and I woke up mid-sleep because my throat badly burned from stomach acid for over a half-hour. Hard to breathe between the coughing. Had to take an extra caffeine pill this morning to get up at my usual time.
>>5480 >Mexican food Homemade or from a restaurant?
>>5476 i guess you're right. imageboards will always be top on my list of /comfy/ communication methods.
>>5491 From a restaurant.

This makes me sad!
>>5498 I'm more into the homemade kind, personally. And the fast food version I don't like at all besides things like nachos or Potato Oles. >>5501 It's working for me.
>>5501 What's the barking dog?
>>5505 Tab containers. I couldn't figure out what to call them. >>5504 /kind/ came back up a few hours after I posted. And as for mexican, I'm too lazy to make my own.
Any old people here?
>>5576 I'm getting up there by imageboard standards.

>>5579 >I'm getting up there by imageboard standards. I duno, many real boomers use faceberg and twatter. Do you really see yourself going back to use them, so you can be more normal? That wood be about the same as giving up the Internet so you can live a more boomer acceptable existence in front of a TV.
>>5581 >I duno, many real boomers use faceberg and twatter. Do you really see yourself going back to use them, so you can be more normal? No, I got rid of my social media a long time ago, I kind of miss MySpace, but even if something like it came back I'd never use it. I got rid of my Facebook account a long time ago and don't miss it one bit. >That wood be about the same as giving up the Internet so you can live a more boomer acceptable existence in front of a TV. Similarly, I kind of miss sitting in front of the TV. I guess it's just nostalgia for coming home from school and plopping down on the couch and watching documentaries. When I see TV these days, I understand completely why I gave up on it in the first place.
>>5582 >>5581 I'm guessing boomers wood probably think of image board culture as inane and embarrassing as most 25+yos see zoomer Internet culture. So real boomers are probably most comfy on boomerbook instead of coming to places like this. >>5579 Lvl 5 wizard here. I miss when not just the Internet but eberrything wasn't so serious and political.

>>5594 eberryone we used to be friends with on the internet, who had epic bantz and did things for the lulz with, went to college and became politically charged with srs bsns and critical brainwash. they all learned that fun is immoral, and those of us with whom the remnant of fun lies hide on the outskirts, longing for the days before our internet cohort was converted into the asinine seething masses they are now by the berry same people who put them under mountains of insurmountable student loan debt. >>5626 It's hard to believe just how bad things have gotten over the past ten years. Web 2.0 was closing in on the old Internet, but eberrything was nowhere near this sanitized and lame to the point that we're now being driven underground.

>>5594 I though 30 year old boomers were the original, non-Jap image board users? The 90s had BBS pre-Internet, and then NNTP, IRC, webforums, and instant messaging at the end and into the 00s. Mainstream PaleoBoomers were TV people and didn't Internets until "smart" devices showed up, They were funneled into corporate social media via preloaded apps and defaults. This is when "social media" exponentially expanded. "Social media" wasn't even a term in the popular lexicon until the mid-to-late 00s, so it was weird to hear it retroactively applied to the older methods of socializing on the Internet. Zoomer Internet culture is caca like Discord, Instagram, SnapChat and TikTok. Which are even more degenerate than the original generation of corporate social media (Faceberg, Twatter, Gooberit, JewTube), the places PaleoBoomers congregate. The Weeb caca was fringe 20 years ago and I don't even remember seeing it in the 90s. The only places anime penetrated into the mainstream was through video games, children oriented TV shows, and some lesser popular movies. Certain types of anime seem to have become the unofficial mascot of Internet grannies, so about on par with furfags in the "inane and embarrassing" department. >>5627 >eberrything was nowhere near this sanitized and lame to the point that we're now being driven underground. It coincided with all GUI and icon graphics adopting extreme minimalism aesthetics, Eberrything these days have an over simplified, sterile look. If I were to make a guess, its purpose is to psychologically condition users to believe the back end components of applications are also simple and limited in function. Look at the de-evolution of the Firefox icon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox#Branding_and_visual_identity But as we all know, the 9000 JavaScripts running in the background make modern browser unusable on some older hardware.
>>5632 I'm secretly hoping for a messageboard renaissance of some kind. Like people start going back to forums and imageboards as they realize just what Reddit/Twitter/etc took from them. Such as threads that last more than a day. Or a linear thread format that allows for actual discussion where eberryone's posts are equally visible, not just people competing for retweets/upvotes with stale memes and epic owns. Of course, I woodn't want eberryone to go back to messageboards. If someone's the type of person who wood have kept only to Myspace back in the day (i.e. they don't have any interests worth joining/making a board for), they don't need to go anywhere. Or if they're addicted to internet points, then we're better off without them because their posting style is going to carry over and make things worse for eberryone.
>>5633 > Such as threads that last more than a day. THREADS, NOT TIMELINES THREADS, NOT TIMELINES THREADS, NOT TIMELINES THREADS, NOT TIMELINES

>>5641 Threads are honestly so great. It's unbelievable the modern format has just gone away from them. It encourages lazy communication with way too loose topics and encourages people to go off-topic.

>>5632 >Certain types of anime seem to have become the unofficial mascot of Internet grannies, so about on par with furfags in the "inane and embarrassing" department. depends on where you go. some communities are worse than others but that applies to any community or even art form really when given enough attention. I do Admit their has been some over saturation though. >>5633 >their posting style is going to carry over and make things worse for eberryone. Because of how IBs work I don't see it doing all that much for berry long. With the lack of internet points it'll eventually get drowned out due to their organic nature of post regulation. The only exceptions that come to mind being threads getting bumped because people get pissed at them but that's pretty normal.
>>5667 >depends on where you go. some communities are worse than others but that applies to any community or even art form really when given enough attention. I do Admit their has been some over saturation though. It's not about where you go, it's more like "when it shows up". For example, you could be on a forum, or image board, with a normal mix of discussion and variation in images posted. Then you start to notice more and more avatarfagging and a high saturation of teen anime girl images. The avatarfags then create drama between themselves and in some situations, 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬.
