Anon Board owner 02/27/2020 (Thu) 16:18:04 No.1
Hello friends, and welcome to /comfy/. You can post suggestions for the board ITT. Have fun! 。^‿^。
Edited last time by Butterberg on 06/01/2020 (Mon) 18:52:22.
Currently taking it easy. A music thread would be cool. Maybe a spooky story thread, since those can be comfy in a weird way. I could make that one when I get back in about an hour.
What about the CSS? Should we switch to another theme? A dark one maybe?
>>14 I've always thought a dark CSS is more comfier, but with /late/ using a dark CSS maybe /comfy/ should try something different to stand out. Hey BO, would I be allowed to dump my large collection of comfy pixel art? Thought I'd ask before I created a thread
>>21 Of course! Go ahead, do what you like.
>>21 >>23 Yep, no rules here as long as it's comf.
You should add some banners
>>43 Feel free to make some
I've made a CSS - what are your thoughts anons/BO? It's based heavily from /caffe/ but I thought it suited this board too - dark enough to be comfy but not dark enough that it's a /late/ clone: https://pastebin.com/0uVPc22Z
>>45 Looks nice. I went ahead and set it.
>>47 Could you please delete posts 38, 39, 40, 50, and 51? Some of the images are broken and I'll repost them in a bit. I forgot to change the quick reply box and the captcha bypass, so I updated the CSS: https://pastebin.com/ai2H7pft
>>52 Alright, I deleted the broken ones. I'll update the CSS as soon as I can.
>>44 I would if I had any ideas.
>>1 Hello I am new here, and I have a simple question: are swears allowed?
>>90 Is swearing comfy? Idk, I've personally started to avoid swearing, but it's hard since there are times when you really wanna call someone a... you know. Managed it so far, though. Generally I'd say no, you shouldn't swear here and only make nice posts. But then again we don't need too much post policing here either.
>>90 I wouldn't say swearing is either comfy or un-comfy, but personally on a board like this I would try keep it to a minimum because there isn't really a need. I normally swear when I'm reacting rashly or emotionally to something but here's laid back and chill. so it doesn't fit in. Like >>94 said there's no need to post police though.
>>98 Ever since I've stopped I've discovered that you don't really ever need to swear. There's always a nice way to get across what you wanna say, which is preferable in my opinion. It's a matter of personal preference though. On imageboards where calling someone a nierfaot for fun is the norm, it's probably gonna be hard to enforce such a rule.
I'm just gonna be deleting posts advertising other imageboards from now on; if they wanna promote their sites then they can join the webring.
>>121 It would look better if the board wasn't cluttered with spam. And yeah they should join the webring if they're trying to recruit users.
>>121 Please do, it's mostly bad actors.
>>94 This isn't the place for r00d. If you want r00d you need to go elsewhere.

OP's pic related is us and gf
Your CSS is a bit offputting Its the stark contrast between the new reply box / dark opening posts and then these really bright looking replies My suggested fix for a dark theme; html, body { background: #351210; color: #856154; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",Trebuchet, serif; font-size: 12pt; } .innerPost { background-color: #281212; } Suggested fix for a brighter theme; (might need fixing) html, body { background: #864722; color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS",Trebuchet, serif; font-size: 12pt; } div.title, h1 { color: black; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; } #864722 .innerPost { background-color: #bc8658; } Just search and replace them in the CSS file if interested to see how it looks Also could make the #postingForm th {background} the same (or similar) as the innerposts
>>208 #selectedDiv, #selectedDivQr { background:#261712; min-width: 300px; } .reportFieldset, #settingsFieldset { text-align: left; position: relative; display: inline-block; vertical-align: top; margin: 1rem; padding: 1rem; min-height: 300px; background-color: #261712; border-width: 1px; border-style: none solid solid none; border-color: #261712; } .reportFieldset legend, #settingsFieldset legend { display: block; width: calc(100% + 2rem); margin: -1rem -1rem 1rem; padding: 0.25rem 0.75rem; font-weight: bold; border-bottom: 1px solid #000000; transform: translateY(1rem); } Should also be included. Really like the theme by the way.

Could this thread >>>/cafe/594 be moved to /comfy/? I think it would fit in here better.
>>253 Done
Heads up someone from the fbi or atf is posting CP on the webrings.
>>506 A story as old as time.
I'm sorry for posting that retarded manifesto earlier on, my emotions have been controlling me and has made me do stupid shit like that, i realize that it was not particularly /comfy/ of me to do that and i promise to never do such a thing again.
Requesting some city lights at the bottom of the background page, and less bright red everywhere.
Since I'm shutting >>>/cafe/ and turning it into >>>/shelter/, I'm going to move any comfy-type threads here if they aren't already here. Please feel free to delete them if you don't want them.
>>653 I'll get on it
Put some new rules up Need to protect /comfy/ from stressful posters
>>653 all done
but what if rousing rabble is what makes me feel comfy???
>>811 We're utilitarians here, what makes the most people comfy counts.
>>759 Most of these rules are totally subjective and up for debate. How can we be sure you won't rulecuck us and turn the board into gay shit? I would suggest making the rules more set in stone. Things like "intentionally provocative posts" and "rudeposting" can mean completely different things depending on the bo's mood- and I (and I assume most people) wouldn't want to be on a board where the board owner just deletes whatever he wants with no consistency.
>>918 I think it's pretty clear what's a rudepost and what isnt. Whats your definition of "gay shit"?
>>918 Honestly, there's nothing more uncomfy and rulecucky than a board run by some rule lawyer. Almost all rules, even the constitutional ones that countries are founded on, are open to interpretation and can bent enough to mean anything (that's why there's still so much corruption in governments and it only increases as more rules are added, but whatever), and technically you don't need any rules to run a board, all you need is a philosophy (comfyness), and someone (the BO) to represent this philosophy and uphold it according to how they interpret it, so you end up with a neat community based more on trust and friendship with rules serving more like guidelines, rather than some formal internet courtroom where the perfect community is molded into shape.

I request to filter rulecuck to order
>>953 NO! Filter rulecuck to ordnung
>>918 Agreed. I'm uncomfy being on a board without any clear rules where the board owner has all the power to delete whatever offends him without consequence.
>>957 Then leave
>>918 >>957 That's what I mean when I said that I don't wanna engage in rule autism. I never really delete anything here except for ads and I only banned one guy for telling anon to kill himself. It seems like you're trying to make a problem out of something that isn't a problem, and I wonder what the purpose of such a thing could be. But yeah, Just be comfy and not rude, and you can post here whatever you want.
>>960 Of course it's against your interests to engage in "rule autism." Because you want all the power to ban whoever you want with zero accountability.
please don't instigate drama on this board
>>975 >/comfy/ - A place to relax
>>975 kys hehpill retard, go somewhere else if you don't like it here
>>983 Now you know what it feels like to be invaded by 8kun rapefugees
>>986 I don't give a shit, fuck off and don't come back. You don't care about this place, you just want to see every board collapse for your own entertainment. Piss off
please don't rudepost on this board
>>983 Just don't reply anon. You can only make it worse.

>>989 I can't help it
>>990 It's probably an outsider trying to stir drama on purpose, but they can't do that if we ignore them.
>>987 Wasn't even against you, i was supporting your case with these troublemakers
>>983 >>991 >>996 Not everyone who wants to improve a board is le boogieman... Is there something wrong with wanting clear and concise rules here? We've already seen the board owner ban two people ITT! I thing /comfy/ is great, I just don't want to see it go the way of /a/ or something.
>>1012 Is there something unclear about 'no rudeposting'?
>>991 >but they can't do that if we ignore them. not to see rude, but as a BO myself for almost 4 years now, i'm firmly of the opinion that the BO themselves literally set the tone for the board more than the users do. just quietly ban sh*tstirrers, they will soon get bored and go away. for this to work the BO must be diligent ofc.
>>1014 >ban & delete*
>>1013 I was told to kill myself and called an 8kun rapefugee and they weren't banned. Please explain to me what rudeposting is and why telling people to kill themselves isn't considered rudeposting?
>>1016 That poster was banned too
>>1017 I'm curious why you don't also delete offending posts here? Leaving them lying there doesn't seem to improve the /comfy/ afaict.
>>1018 I'll probably delete them in the future.
>>1020 Fair enough, it's just curiosity. I also face a similar problem and likewise address it in a rather slow-motion fashion generally, with some exceptions.
BO you should probably delete the discord links
>>1156 I made a thread dedicated to ads >>1157
>>1158 At least delete the current spam link threads.
>>1020 Advice from a staff on another IB: if you are banning due to a post that is straight up unacceptable to board culture, it's usually good to either append modtext to show other users what happened, a la '(user was banned for this post)', or just delete it if it's made by a 100% certain troll or spammer. Silent bans without post deletion can cause confusion.
>>1014 Janny+Mod for 6 years (more if non-IBs included) and I'd say that's mostly right, but noting that it's far less so in smaller self-moderating communities that aren't hit by many trolls or by strict/abusive BOs. If this board were unmoderated, I feel this place for example woodn't be much worse off than when properly moderated (that's not a complaint at all, it's a hypothesis about cultural moderation). Only exceptions to comfyposting I foresee are occasional trolls from the overboard and botspam who can both be easily ignored, or anons who can't control themselves and incidentally begin political/etc arguments (this is where moderators style matters the most).
>>1172 To deter botspam on my board, I keep most settings as is and change them the instant I see someone prepping up a bot. Stuff like forcing captchas in the middle of their raid, then removing the captcha when they find a way to avoid it. It fucks up with their system. I also try and gaslight trolls into thinking they never posted anything.
>>1171 Well that's how i've been doing it.
>>1172 >Janny+Mod for 6 years (more if non-IBs included) and I'd say that's mostly right No one cares that you've spent the past 6 years sweeping poop up for free. Sorry, but it's the truth.
>>1244 Just qualifying because he did. Nothing personnel, uncomfy kiddo.
Hmm. I don't like this thread berry much, maybe i'll unstick it.
